Hotel Queston For Vegas Vets

We have always enjoyed staying at the Orleans. Another off strip hotel would be Sams town, which also has free shuttle service to downtown (or they did).
I too like the Orleans. If you like Bingo, you can walk to the casino across the street (I think it's called "Gold Coast"). Great Bingo!
You can bowl at the O, which is a fun too.
Actually, you'll need to take the shuttle to Gold Coast - it's one of the stops. Gold Coast is next to the Rio and across the street from the Palms.
While we usually stay on the Strip, we have stayed at the Orleans for a few days just to try something different.

Rooms were decent enough - I seem to remember them being rather spacious. Cleanliness not a problem. A good, fun feel to the casino.

As others have said The Orleans. Great place to stay and play.
Thanks to all that replied....Clearly, the folks here have a lot of experience with the Orleans.....Let me frame the question in a different light: My spouse has difficulity walking longer distances.....Which hotel, the Orleans or Eastside Cannery would be easier for her to navigate?
Eastside Cannery would be easier to negotiate because it's significantly smaller. The casino, while good-sized at 62,000 sq. ft, is slightly less than half the size of the Orleans.

I would say that because the most distant hotel room at EC is far less distant than the most distant room at Orleans, that EC could be easier for her. But you could completely eliminate EC's advantage by getting an Orleans room that is close to the elevator and electing not to wander the distant reaches of the Orleans' casino.

Even with mobility issues, I'd strongly recommend Orleans over EC for most every Vegas visitor.
Eastside Cannery is definitely easier to get around in. When you consider the walking requried for check-in, hallways to the room, casino space, and parking garage....you'll do much less walking at the Cannery. Its not a bad place. I used to play there quite a bit until they downgraded the VP games. Their breakfast diner is still one of my favorites.

But make no mistake...typical weekday mornings/afternoons there are more employees than customers in the E-Cannery.
Scooters are always an option and I've found a fantastic way to get around if needed. Las Vegas scooters is an extremely reputable co. They're truly a one call does it all or you can do it on their website.Just tell 'em when and where you'll be and when you're leaving, they'll leave it at concierge and it'll be there upon arrival. Reverse is also true, just leave it at desk when you check out. I'm pretty sure all hotels are familiar with the routine, it's about a hundred bucks a week or so. Even if its not need all the time, nice to to have when ypu do.

I used to go to the EC for breakfast when I stayed at Sam's Town. Really good breakfast and nice portions. As far as the Orleans goes, it sure has grown since I use to stay there regularly. They have a nice buffet for dinner and is probably the only place in town that serves "crawdads". I've heard that the Prime Rib Loft is excellent.
