That game will not end well.

This seems like such a confused thread. Arguing over who is at fault for the shutdown? There is a group of Republican Congresspeople that insist that they did it, intentionally. They are glad they did it and desperately want it to continue.

Why are some Republicans, and some people here looking for the perpetrators, they freely and openly take credit for the shutdown.

They said they were going to do it.
They did it.
They are thrilled that they did it.

Leave Obama, the Democrats, the Senate, and everybody else out of it. This crime has already been solved. The perpetrators are those guys celebrating and and accepting all the credit/blame.

Why is anyone even pretending that this is a mystery?

The shutdown is not ending for one reason. There are enough teabaggers that want the shutdown to continue, and the rest of the Republican party is afraid of them. If the mainstream Republicans grew a pair, and broke from the teabaggers, the shutdown ends tomorrow. That will take some serious Republican leadership, I don't see it happening.

Stop looking for bad guys, there is a group that has already taken full responsibility for the shutdown, they are laughing and bragging about their accomplishment.

Do you want the shutdown to end? Focus. Call your Republican Congressperson, and tell him / her to end it.

Translation: Republicans need to become Democrats to get anything done with this Senate and President.

Obama's press conference today was an absolute joke. He couldn't say the words "hostage" or "ransom" often enough. He did refrain from calling Republicans "terrorists", but I'm not sure why. It could be because he will negotiate with real terrorists. His claim that he is willing to negotiate anything AFTER it is passed is absolute BS. Gimme everything I want, then you can have the privilege of asking me to talk about a compromise...and I'll think about it never.

No. Republicans are becoming teabaggers. Until you admit the truth, that the teabaggers wanted this shutdown, got exactly what they wanted, and are completely thrilled with this shutdown, you will play the Dem/Rep game. This has nothing to do with any groups except Republicans and teabaggers.

Keep ignoring the fact that some "Republicans" are congratulating themselves for causing the shutdown, while others claim to think it's terrible.

You tell me Bob, which one of these is the shutdown:
1. An amazing triumph for the Republican Party.
2. A terrible disaster.

It seems to depend on which Republican you ask. Where do you stand? For or against the teabaggers? For or against the shutdown?

If and when you (and most ignorant radical liberals) stop referring to conservatives using a sexual act to describe them, don't expect much dialog.

The White House not only wanted this shut down, it instructed agencies involved to make it as painful as possible. Ban veterans and the general public from open air memorials, monuments and national parks, but allow an illegal immigration rally on the national mall with the flag of Mexico hoisted high. That is an amazing triumph for the Democrat Party! They don't care how long it lasts as long as they think "they're winning". Given that ABC, NBC and CBS all place 100% of blame for this on Republicans, as they did when Clinton shut down the government, most low information people won't know any better.

The shut down is not a triumph for the Republican Party. House Republicans passed funding the government via a CR 4 times before the shut down. The Senate said no. Obama said no. House Republicans pass legislation to fund some parts of government that Obama selected to be shut down. The Senate said no. Obama said no. It is the dictator living in the White House who is in charge of, and responsible for, all of this. It really is that simple.

Nope, just allow an up-or-down vote in the House. You know, majority rules.

What does the GOP have against democracy?

What does the Democrat Party have against the Constitution? Obamacare didn't become law under regular Congressional standards. The only way it became law in the first place was to pack it into an unrelated budget resolution, then claim it as part of budget reconciliation. Having a majority in both houses of Congress and the Presidency, they made up new rules as they went. As a stand alone complex and controversial piece of legislation, it needed to pass the Senate by a super majority of 60. The Senate didn't have enough votes to do that after Teddy died, so placing it within a budget resolution made it new law without it actually being passed under Congressional rules for all other legislation. Obamacare was illegitimate from day one.

What does the Democrat Party have against the Constitution?...
Nothing! - according to the United States Supreme Court. Maybe you heard about their ruling on ObamaCare; it was in all the papers.

Now why don't you answer my question?

"Leave Obama, the Democrats, the Senate, and everybody else out of it. This crime has already been solved. The perpetrators are those guys celebrating and and accepting all the credit/blame."

The Republicans have offered compromises & reid won't even take it up & obama keeps saying he won't negotiate. The only compromise the democrats have offered is that if the Republicans cave now, the democrats promise to negotiate later at that point the Republicans have lost their leverage

When party A has leverage & chooses to use that leverage party B has to negotiate. It what we call democracy

Thats about the 100th time you've said the word "compromise".
What do Democrats get in this compromise? Or have you redefined the word "compromise"?
Hoops, yes you keep mentioning compromise, but the Democrats get nothing out of anything the Republicans have offered. For example yesterday the Republicans offered to create a deficit commission #2. Of course I prefer to call it the cat food commission #2 , but whatever you call it matters not tax reform was taken off the table as a starting point in this commission so in other words deficits could only be solved by more cuts and not something even as mild as closing tax loopholes on the revenue side.

The Republicans wanted to defund 100% of obamacare; the democrats wanted to keep 100% funding.

The compromise is that obamacare is about 95% funded

It's kind of cute, the way you stick up for your hero's. Your loyalty to them is admirable but very misplaced. They disagree with you, they are proud and "very excited" (their words) about the shutdown.

Feel free to show me where Obama or any Democrat said they wanted a shutdown. You can't because only one part of one party wanted and continues to want this. Teabaggers offends you? Okay Tea Party, will that help you accept that they disagree with your defense of them. You are literally arguing with the very people you so desperately want to defend.

"Rep. Tom Massie (R-Kentucky) says a shutdown is just fine with him, since he was happier at home than at Congress, anyway. "The last thing I fear is going back and leading that same life," he told Bloomberg Businessweek."

"If you had any doubt about what Michele Bachmann meant when she said she was "very excited" about the prospect of a government shutdown and characterized that outcome as "exactly what [House Republicans] wanted," consider her appearance on Sean Hannity's Fox News show yesterday. Asked by Hannity how concerned she is that some of her Republican colleagues might "capitulate" to Harry Reid and Obama, Bachmann said she isn't worried because "this is about the happiest I've seen members in a long time."

"Appearing on CBS' Face the Nation in January, Rep. Matt Salmon (R-Ariz.) enthusiastically called for a government shut down saying he thought it was a good idea and "it's about time."

The Tea Party wanted the shutdown. They said they wanted it, they are happy they got it, and they want it to continue. Now can we please stop pretending to look for who wants the shutdown.
