No resort fee for Diamonds, 7Stars

Karen, the bonuses have helped me too. As of last night I surpassed 150,000 tier points because of the 5,000 bonuses earned per visit. I wrote about how it was possible to make 7Stars this year for less theoretical loss because of the bonuses. But you have to be able to put through $25,000 coin in at video poker per visit to maximize this strategy, and a lot of people would consider a coin-in amount of $25,000 at video poker to be "up there."

The strategy I detailed was this:

Playing $25,000 coin in per session at a game returning 99.54% your theoretical loss per visit is $115. (You can do this with 9/6 Jacks or Better)
After 20 visits you would have 150,000 tier points with a theoretical loss of $2300.

Unfortunately, at Harrahs Rincon where I play 9/6 Jacks is not available and the best play is 8/5 Bonus or 8/5 Aces and Faces which returns 99.2% which is a theoretical loss of $4,000 less cash back and free play, and that's about what it just cost me. I did have a slightly bigger loss than $4,000 because of some bad luck but my cost for attaining 7 Stars again is much lower than in years past.

Without the bonuses which are worth 100,000 tier points (20 X 5,000 points per visit) my theoretical loss would be:

$1,000,000 coin in at 9/6 jacks: $4,600 additional
$1,000,000 coin in at 8/5 bonus: $8,000 additional
There was nothing said to me about Gold's being exempted.

Edited to add: at this point, it wouldn't surprise me if everything is changing day by day. When I initially spoke to Caesars they made no mention of Platinums being exempted.

When I called the hosts' office a few minutes ago they had to confirm when I told them about the Platinum exemption.

Who knows? Maybe Golds will be added too? Maybe the company will just reverse the whole damn charge after the bad press they got?

Look, with all the exemptions they are giving out, it sounds like only the conventioneers are going to be paying the fee.
I'm Platinum. I made a booking at Paris Las Vegas where I'm not comped. It says my resort fee is waived.

I read somewhere that the resort fee will be waived on all reservations made prior to March 1.

yes, we're talking about today going forward.
All of this makes me think they don't know what to do with the resort fees for TR members.

First I was told only 7stars and Diamonds are exempt -- and now Plats are exempt too.
I gave a gift certificate to a friend to use -- at first they were charged the resort fee with the gift cert and then I was told they shouldnt be. (7stars get gift certs to give out to friends, relatives)
Late today I was told that resort fees will vary when they are charged.
I think its a mess and they really don't have the details worked out yet.

Where it is clear it is for "non players" and conventiongoers which is really where Caesars could get a lot of revenue without complaints. Conventiongoers wouldnt care about an extra ten or twenty bucks a day on a tax deductible trip with an expense account.
The gift certificates I get are only for 2 night Sun-Thurs night stays at Caesars Palace. I have gotten 2 of these every year for the past 4 years or so. I was going to send one out for a stay next month. When is your friend staying? I would be curious to know if they have to pay the resort fee or not.
The gift certs that I have are for four night stays, any days/nights.

When they made the original reservation as part of a group (all together the group is taking five rooms) they were told the resort fee was $25. But my friends using the gift cert weren't sure if they had to pay the fee.

So I called the hosts office (my host was on vacation) and that's when I got the info that there was no resort fee for gift certs, and comped stays for 7stars and Diamonds. After the post here about Plats I made a second call and found out Plats were added to the exempt list.

So I asked my friends using the gift cert to call back to see if they have to pay the resort fee or if the resort fee only applies to the other rooms.
when is their stay? I would feel sort of shitty if I gave this to someone and they got hit with a $25/night resort fee.
