No Strategy

Since there are no good guys let them fight among themselves until one of them prevails. If we go in and try and tip the scales one way or another we just alienate and antagonize the other half of the population there. Try and look at it from a historical prospective. At one time Christians wanted to conquer the world and establish a "biblical empire" headquartered in Rome. They wanted to take it worldwide. In the name of Jesus they waged wars, raped women, killed children and burned entire cities to the ground. Recognize there is no cure for religious induced madness it has to die out on its own. Kill one religious nutcase and you end up radicalizing twenty of his family members.

Gee PJ, would you think if Obama had actually negotiated with the Iraqi government for a SOF agreement, it may have prevented this crap in the first place?

Y'all wanted to get out of Iraq no matter what and in the end basically gave the damn country to Isis/Isil/idiots des jour. The Iraqi troops are not trained to be led by a civilian government, they were trained to take orders from Saddam and his generals. Failure to obey meant death to the soldier AND their families. Now its a question of loyality/patriotism to keep them in line.

Now there IS no choice but to eliminate Isis/Isil no matter what. This is the very messy part of dealing with folks in the Middle East. We freed Iraq from Saddam and our correct choice is to do what ever we can to support the duly elected government and kill Isis/Isil.

I cant think of a worse decision then to keep our troops in a country whose Democratically elected leader sent execution squads into the neighborhoods of sectarian opponents. That coupled with the other leader in Syria who kills the same people with chemical weapons.

Are you surprised the oppressed victims in those sectarian kill plots have joined hands with crazy militants who want to fight back? I'm not. ANd I'm certainly not willing to say one of those groups is better than the other. Feel free to disagree. I cant remotely imagine what a rational defense argument would be for either group. And trying to make such an argument with our troops over there at a cost of 10 billion/week in addition to whatever casualties they may suffer?

I'm happy to disagree with your foreign policy chef. Very, very happy. But I at least give you credit for weighing in on who you think the good guys are. Your pals on the board didn't want to face that music...and for good reason

"Democratically elected leader sent execution squads into the neighborhoods of sectarian opponents" ISIS is a big bunch of really bad guys & is murdering people by the thousands. obama has been aware of this JV group for several years and chose to ignoe them because they did not fit into his Al Qaida & the terrorists is on the run narrative.

ISIS is the worst of the bunch and we should side with the more moderate groups.

The sad reality is that this war will never end. After one gang of thugs is defeated another will pop up. As long as they believe that there is only one religion and people who don't believe should be killed, this will go on and on

There are some people you do not turn the other cheek too. When you do, they know you are gutless and your words are just hot air. Obeyme has no clue how to deal with these murdering animals and thinks (?) that burying his head in the sand will make them go away. This twice elected liar needs to step aside and let real men make the needed decisions concerning foreign affairs. He obviously can't find the time to do what is really necessary while on the golf course. PJ seems to think that we who post here should have all the answers. That is Obeyme's job. He wanted the responsibility of being President, apparently he did not realize that being President requires one to put on their big boy pants and act like one. Like most windbags, he is being found out who he truly is.

When others, such as myself, tell the truth pertaining to whatever topic PJ currently harangue's about, PJ then decides to insult and dismiss whoever is posting if they don't agree with his misguided viewpoints. In other words, if one does not agree with PJ,then he takes his ball home. Presently he has the floor, with his dismissive attitude.
