Poor little me? Oh for heaven's sake!
Lie to yourself all you want, we know why, of all the polls you could post here, you posted that one. You fear an America where people of different faiths get along.
Just an asshole move, no different from esteskefauver's yesterday.
[Although this thread was intended to be informative as to the popularity of the President among citizens of various religious beliefs, it has, . . . as many of DonDiego's threads do, . . . transmogrified into a thread about DonDiego and perceptions of his failings.
So DonDiego will go along, . . . and address his ideas on religion and politics and hatred.]
DonDiego doesn't understand Chilcoot's complaint.
Why does Chilcoot think that knowledge of a poll related to the popularity of the President of the United States would encourage Americans to hate one another?
As has been written in this Forum President Obama won re-election by a landslide. Should not the observation that American Muslims support the President overwhelmingly endear them to those who voted for and support President Obama. DonDiego would suppose Chilcoot would approve of such concordance among the American majority and the Muslim population.
BUT NO ! ! ! DonDiego is dividing the Country and spreading hatred !
As DonDiego has stated on several occasions, posters within this Forum overestimate the capacity for hatred in poor old DonDiego.
For the record DonDiego hates no one for whatever religious beliefs they hold, . . . with the notable exception of Islamists sworn to a Muslim conquest of the world and the elimination of all non-believers, among whom DonDiego counts himself. So far as DonDiego knows the majority of American Muslims are not so inclined. There are likely some other religious sects with harmful intentions to which poor old DonDiego would object as well if he knew of them.
Otherwise DonDiego has no problem with folks practicing whatever religion they choose. In fact, he opines on balance adherence to something like, say, the more practical of the Ten Commandments would lead to a better society.
[DonDiego himself remains a non-believer, . . . although as Science unravels evermore details about the complexity of the physics and chemistry and biology, etc. that make the universe work and results in intelligent life, he does wonder, . . . "is it really all by chance?".
But, of course, that has always been the ultimate question on such matters. The Universe is as it is. Homo sapiens exists - whether by chance or design. As the complexities of the universe are revealed the existence of mankind seems less likely under either a scientific explanation or a theological one.
In any case, none of this is cause for hatred of anyone.]
Oh, . . . and for the record poor old DonDiego also hates no one for whatever political beliefs they hold. DonDiego opines that adherence to the Constitution drafted by the Founding Fathers has resulted in what may well have been the finest Country in which to live in history.
He disagrees with those who choose to govern outside of its confines and to those who elect them. He disagrees with those who favor an ever-enlarging Government upon which the citizenry may become dependent at the expense of others, . . . and by which those in power may become ever-more imperious. Power does corrupt.
None of this is hatred. It is much more simply sadness, . . . sadness that future citizens will not enjoy the freedoms that Americans took for granted until the latter half of the 20th century. DonDiego is glad he saw it and benefitted from it before it is likely to be lost.
n.b.None of the above is meant to suggest that DonDiego harbors no hate towards anyone. He just does not hate anyone for their heartfelt religious beliefs or their sincere political beliefs, . . . even when he opines they are incorrect or misinformed.
For the record DonDiego has no reason to hate anyone he has encountered on this Forum, . . . yet. With a few precious exceptions whom DonDiego has met, everyone here is nothing more than directed, . . . or misdirected, . . . flows of electrons on his computer screen.
