Deen is also accused of sexual harassment, and was found in contempt of court for refusing to turn over a video in which she allegedly simulates a sex act on a chocolate eclair.

The éclair changes everything.

Well said.
If'n it was a white eclair it would have no bearing whatsoever.
How-some-ever, it bein' a chocolate eclair exonerates her altogether.

It could be worse, all she did was use the "N " word in the past.

Food show hosts have bad luck........

Case in point Jeff "The Frugal Gourmet" Smith had a hugely popular cooking show on tv years ago, then it came out that he "Liked" young boys that were being "mentored / ministered " by him and being trained as cooks.

Wham bam thank you mam his show was off PBS so fast that if you blinked you missed it.

I'm not a Paula Dean fan, but I think she is getting punished excessively for saying that she has said Nigger in the past. Whether she is a racist or not I'm not sure. I just don't think she should have been fired.

It's the free market, the Food Network must think the negative publicity is not worth it. With Some audiences in some markets, old white women that use the N word and long for the good old days of slavery might generate positive publicity. I'm sure PD has fans that love her even more knowing this stuff. Maybe even a few that post here.

I never could stomach the woman, so I may be enjoying her fall from mediocrity a bit more than I should.

But the important question isn't whether or not she has been treated fairly or whether or not she's a racist. The important question is... how can we get Guy Fieri fired?
How about the lyrics in rap music where they say how much they hate white people and call for the killing of cops?

How about the korean rap singer who sang he hated America & sang at the white house?
No. Guys great

I'm guessing the Food Network won't hire either one of them.

True but mtv will

If someone can say "all she did was say the "n" word a while ago" and mean it, you don't get the point. This is far beyond offensive to African Americans. The Food Network reacted as many publically held companies would. Unfortunately, I don't know if they failed to renew her because it was so much offensive to them or just because it would adversely affect the business. It may have been different if she prased it in a way that showed she was ashamed for using such a word (and mean it), The outcome may have been different. I don't.
The rapper comparison makes no sense. If we find their lyrics wrong, it's simple. Don't buy their recordings. In Dean's case, it may affect sales at her restaurants and those of all of the cooking gear and cookbooks, which buy the way she probably wouldn't be selling without the Food Network!

On a personal note, losing her on the FC doesn't bother me as I never cared for her. I like her son's show redoing her recipes except for the part where they talk on the phone. "Oh Bobby honey, I think it's great you're redoing my recipe for deep fried butter in a healthy manner!"

Good Luck!
