The reason I always try to upgrade to Business or First Class

American Airlines announced they are going to add rows (and hence scrunch everybody) on their 737's and MD 80's.

I'm slightly over 6"5" and don't fit well in many coach seats.

My work changed their travel policy and I get to fly business class now on transatlantic flights. It is much nicer but sometimes works out to about $1000 per hour upcharge. It's not that nice.

I use my American Express mileage. My rule of thumb is whether the flight is over two hours. Southwest Airlines legroom has been okay, but I believe they announced that they may add seats also. The one thing about adding additional rows is that you have to add an extra flight attendant after so many rows are added.

This is yet another reason why I don't enjoy flying any more.

Even in First Class and Business Class, most domestic flights will not serve alcohol before take-off and the food quality has gone down.
I was on a flight to Germany on Lufthansa Airlines and chose to fly coach. I was almost as scrunched as the guy in the seat above. The guy in front of me went to the flight attendant and complained that I wasn't allowing him to recline his seat.

Thankfully the lady sitting next to me spoke in German to the attendant, and the attendant then told the passenger to sit down and be quiet.

I later on talked to a flight attendant who was flying a dead head to Munich and she told me that Lufthansa had added several rows in coach and scrunched the seats.

I have since flown Lufthansa to Germany on business class, and it was fine.

.

What did he want you to do? Shorten your legs?

I wish the seats didn't recline at all.
I have really short legs and don't know how you tall folks do it. I don't recline my seat any more unless the person in front infringes to much. Cattle cars LOL

Ditto that.
This is why you really dont want a consolidation of the airline industry. The intelligent members of AA's compertition will likely target the tightend leg space in new adverstising campaigns. Southwest is historically brilliant at that game...see baggage fees for an example.

competition is good.
