Screwin with telemarketers

Good one Bradr19! I use my best "Beatles" Liverpool Accent on them. I just repeat back to them in a question form everything they ask me. It's a hoot and they usually get frustrated and hang up.

Do Not Call list never worked for me at all. It never got rid of them.
Depending on my mood and if I have an audience, when I get one of these calls I talk at them an alien jibberish from out of space...Last one I did this to called me a stupid f..k..and hung up on me. Sometimes we get into a giggle fit and cannot keep a straight sounding voice.
I utilize the caller ID feature on my phone and, if I don't recognize the caller, I don't answer.

Your tune will change when the Census Bureau starts calling you. They told me they would come to my house up to 6 times if I continue to ignore their phone calls and mail.

Ahhh, so that explains it.
Mess with them all you can. We have a few "call centers" in our area, they have a heavy turn-over, always looking for help as most operators don't last 90-days.

Got another call yesterday. Same company different guy. The other guys supervisor. I was on the crapper and told him "Hey, let me tell you the same thing I told your friend. Stick it up your ass!" He called back 11 times. I would answer and then hang up right away. He called this morning when I was not home. My wife told him he had the wrong number. I blocked the original call number but they have banks of phones. They were from Carson NV. I might have to have Snidely go over there with his lead pipe and settle the score for me.
Regarding the Census, I was a manager for the 2010 Census. They do have on going Census, so you might really have a visit from one of them. If they are rude, report them.
Something else I've done to discourage telemarketers, etc is to ask them to hold a moment while I set up the digital recording device to record our conversation. Than, .....

"Hello. You still there? I've got the recorder working now. Please start over, and I'll have a few quick questions for you to answer."

Than I'll interrupt and require them to identify themselves, their phone number, company, employee ID, and ask questions they do not want to answer. (What is your residential address? Phone number? Date of birth? Social Security number? Driver's license number? Mother's maiden name? Marital status? Employers occupational license number? The list can be endless, and they always terminate the conversation.)

In addition to being on the "Do Not Call" registry, I must be on another list somewhere, (that those companies pass around among themselves) because I do not recall receiving an unsolicited call in a year or more.
Random thoughts I've messed with over the years:

When told by an operator they did not have a Do Not Call list.... I said take out a sheet of paper and write my number on it... now you do.

Tell them this is a pay phone outside the Dominos pizza.

Use to have the local newspapers calling to sell subscriptions; told them we was blind.

As much as I dislike telemarketers, I feel sorry for them. Working for minimum wage, making phone calls all day long to people who don't want to talk to them. Some people are forced to take any job they can get.
