Taliban Terrorist / American Soldier Swap

Isreal is a tiny country with no real deployment of troops outside of its borders . That makes their troops far less capable of being captured and held for ransom . Compare that with our deployment of troops all over the world , and I think you can see why Isreal does not fear releasing terrorists . Bob

If it isn't a good deal for the country then we shouldn't do it. First we were told that the deal has to be done because he was very sick. Then we were told the Taliban were going to kill them. I believe the story has since changed again. Since the rationale for the trade has changed, there is no good reason to make the trade.

Bergdahl's hometown had to cancel a celebration because of threats, and his parents have received death threats.

Now that's terrorism.

I'm just wondering Forkie, Chilly, PJ, and Marcis. At least one of these Taliban leaders has vowed he will go back to war. If one of these released people is responsible for even one future American death, do you believe that the blood is on Obama's hands?

A list of coincidences

1 - For several weeks obama is taking heat on the VA scandal (now in at leat 69 hospitals)
2- On Friday he finally fire shinsecki
3- On Saturday he announces the deal; takes the victory lap which have been in ongoing negotiations for
years. He could have made this crappy deal months ago.
4- The bergdahls just happened to be in Washington that day; having taken the shirt trip from Idaho
5- On Sunday he send out serial liar susan rice to peddle the near death story
6- obama then departs to Europe, where bergdahl just happens to be. I suspect another victory lap
culminating with photos were on the agenda. However by then the entire thing had blown up.

Conclusion - it was all about politics as he try to improve his image; but it turns into a pr disaster

If you want to see it that way, sure. Would Sgt B's blood be on Obama's hands if he was left to rot in the Taliban's prison? I would say yes to that, too. Did Reagan have blood on his hands with deaths resulting from the weapons he exchanged for Iranian prisoners? And are you equally critical? Or are you like the rest of our resident conservatives who have different standards for presidents depending on their political party?

Being president is tough. People die as the result of your decisions. Almost every president from the last 100 years has blood on his hands....it comes down to whose blood it is, and each individual's disposition on it. I don't have a problem with people who are critical of this most recent deal. I have a problem with hypocrites who judge different presidents on different scales....and I think that sums almost all of our resident conservatives.

Let me give you an example of NOT being a hypocrite: I do think Obama has plenty of unconscionable blood on his hands from the 100's of innocent civilians killed by his drone program...an so does the president that preceded him. And that doesn't even count the deaths caused by new terrorists that are spawned from those attacks.

This entire mess started because there is a sect among people who believe in Islam that there is only 1 religion and anyone who does not believe in Islam should be killed. This belief has nothing to do with drone atacks, Iraq or Afghanistan
