We can do a lot more than just hope. A LOT more.

What good parents do is educate their children to realize they don't know everything and are not bullet proof. Sure, kids can be stubborn. So can non-kids. But most parents succeed at this. Not all, but most.

The wrong choice is to throw up our hands in disgust and pretend nothing can be done. Lots of things can be done, many of them worthwhile. We should do them, lives are worth it.

As for the other thing, I don't think I'll get anywhere with someone who in 2013 thinks "homo" = pedophile. But for the record, Jerry Sandusky married his wife Dorothy in 1966 and together they raised six children, by all appearances model hetrosexuals in the mold t Suts still looks for.

That's precious. You now find yourself defending Jerry Sandusky, a multiple times convicted child molester who used a confidence scheme together with his powerful position to draw little boys into his sexual perversions. So how many of his six kids did he rape when his dumbass wife looked the other way and saw Nothing? A clear case of homo equaling pedophile. And yes, it's 2013.

You're delusional in thinking anything can be done about teenage distracted driving by parents or any other authority figure. Today's young people are a twisted product of the progressive world they're being brought up in. Anything goes, and as long as that type of unethical and immoral attitude runs rampant among teenagers and their rock star and Hollywood sicko idols, they will do whatever they want. In a way, the guy who said he was glad the 16 year old was dead is onto something. Death as a reality is the only thing that may get through to the others corrupted by today's liberal sickness.

If you feel strongly about the subject please do something other than comment about it in a Las Vegas forum. You spend a lot of time on this forum which could be better spent educating and passing on information to the texting generation. I'm not joking, you really could make a small dent in the problem.

The LVA free for all won't be the same but at least our roads will be safer.

It is sad what happened to that girl but likely in 2013 that she was warned multiple times about texting and driving. If she took a driver education class I would think it was towards the top of her curriculum.

Most of us have friends or family of the texting age and we should warn them again and then hope they actually listen. Sadly not every child or young adult listens or cares regardless of gender, race, etc.

Much too busy cticizing the world and preaching about how it could be better than to get off his a** and actually do anything else, typical and classical of his ilk.

As the father of a 17 year old girl, I'll second the notion that the vast majority of them simply don't get it no matter how much they are TOLD, and only the death of a close friend or classmate will make them think twice about it. My daughter had such an experience with a classmate, and did a class project urging kids to not text and drive. Do I think it made a big difference with my daughter? Yeah, but I also can't say that I 100% guarantee she has never sent a text while driving. Do I think it made a difference to her peers when she made a presentation to them? Probably not to most of them, but if it made a difference to ONE person then I think we can celebrate that.

I have never defended Jerry Sandusky. He's among the worst people ever.

Obviously I need to dumb things down for you, the guy who injected Jerry Sandusky into this conversation. WAAAAYYYYY down.

Bah, you're just burned up over the universal roasting I and the rest of the forum gave you for trying to rationalize having your underage child gamble.
