Well we still spend more on the military than almost everyone else combined. I say stop fighting WWII. Pull out of Europe and Japan. They can afford to defend themselves. Muster those brave soldiers out of the Military and into the Border Patrol to guard our Southern Flank. All that money then gets spent here in the Good Ole USA rather than Germany and Japan.
I would like to see that taken a step further..cut off all military aid to any and all foreign countrys. None, nada, zip. That's one of the reasons so many others hate the US anyways. Laissez-faire

Unless a country stays totally out of foreign wars, they will back the wrong side at some point. The more times you get involved, the better the chance you will get burned.
I'm not referring to throwing support or backing country's(which I would definitely like to see an end to) I'm referring to the annual military aid we give or give the go ahead to ,toall conyty;s, ala Israel ,Saudi's, pakistan et al. No more tanks, f'16's not even a bullet to anyone else.
