Thank Goodness, the French are with the US, . . .

According to IISS the US accounts for about 37% of the world's military spending. However one must take into account that countries such as China, Russia and North Korea don't pay their soldiers much, but their combined strength is over 5 million as compared to our proposed 500,000

Maybe we can invent a new word for that. Any suggestions?
DonDiego supposes the word is "rational".

DonDiego remains uncertain about the prosecution of The War of Northern Aggression (1861-1865), . . . under a Republican President.

Had he been alive in 1941. DonDiego would have supported the US entry into World War II (1941-1945), . . . under a Democrat President.

I have no doubt DonDiego has "rational" positions on World War 2...its the more recent endeavors I've noted.

For instance, when DonDiego (correctly) says arming Al Queada friendly rebels in Syria would be a huge mistake...but then blasts the president for not following through on some nebulous "militaristic red line" against Syria's leadership.

Or when DonDiego says no military action should be used against Putin in Ukraine....but then noting how the president's weak response there just emboldens the Russian leader.

Sally Field once played a famous character with multiple personalities. I've heard lots of words used to describe that character. I don't recall "rational" being one of them.

Numbers52 is correct; "Still dead" was not the question; it was the answer.

DD has his Q&A all messed up. I think I can help.

Chilcoot asks: "how'd that Iraq thing work out for us anyhow?"
DD answers: "Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti remains dead."
Not an answer to the question.
DD asks: "Has Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti been resurrected ?"
51 answered: "Still dead. That wasn't the question."
51 asks the original question again: "how'd that Iraq thing work out for us anyhow?"
DD: "Numbers52 is correct; "Still dead" was not the question; it was the answer."

Still not an answer to the question. I get it, DD knows the answer, he just doesn't like the real answer. Avoiding the harsh realities of Iraq or anything else with childish word games, used to be beneath him. These days it has become the norm. That's a shame. The most (possibly only) articulate conservative voice here can't bring himself to answer one simple question.

"Republican" if a Democrat is in power.

"Democrat" if a Republican is in power.
Uh snidely, that would be a lie.

Unless you can tell me how Democrats complained that Bush was not militaristic enough. Or GHW Bush. Or Reagan. Or Ford. Or Nixon. How about it snidely?

Of course your bullshit will appeal to some lame, unthinking "centrists" - that is, embarrassed Republicans - and I predict that one of them will give you a big thumbs up. Oh wait, I'm a little late with that prediction.

DonDiego did say arming the Syrian rebels was/is a huge mistake. Subsequent events support his judgement.

DonDiego did not "blast the President" for not following through on a "militaristic red line". DonDiego criticized The Obama for setting a red line when he clearly had no intention of enforcing it; i.e. one should not set a red line unless one intends to enforce it, lest one's bluff be called and one looks feckless. It was and He did.

DonDiego does oppose US military action in Ukraine. And The Obama's weak responses do embolden President Putin. These statements are not incompatible.

obama is meeting that threat this week by playing golf this past weekend & is now flying to Seattle for yet another fundraiser

Did Hoops sprout another chubby when he mentioned "golf" and "Obama" in the same sentence ?

Well we still spend more on the military than almost everyone else combined. I say stop fighting WWII. Pull out of Europe and Japan. They can afford to defend themselves. Muster those brave soldiers out of the Military and into the Border Patrol to guard our Southern Flank. All that money then gets spent here in the Good Ole USA rather than Germany and Japan.

I would like to see that taken a step further..cut off all military aid to any and all foreign countrys. None, nada, zip. That's one of the reasons so many others hate the US anyways. Laissez-faire
