I don't think anyone disagrees about background checks and I'm pretty certain absolutely NOBODY wants a "nutjob" obtaining an ak-47 with a 30 rd clip but therein lies the issue. Who and what defines a "nutjob"? Is a label going to be slapped on someone from 20 yrs ago that has long been resolved? or only within the past two years? and what was the issue? violent? passive?

It's all so subjective and as Barney Fife would say ,"It's a pickle Andy!, We got us a real pickle!"

Bottom line, something needs to be done, I really don't know what would be affective, but I don't think any knee-jerk reactions are going to do it.

There has been and continues to be immense resistance to background checks. This is the epicenter of the debate.

My crazy uncle who has no business owning guns is always stockpiling at gun shows.

OMG...it happened! Did you see the big list of oppressive executive orders the president issued today?
What happened to our democracy? Check it out:
Nazi Obama Power Grab coming for our guns

He actually wants to appoint a director to his firearms bureau like every president before him? And emergency planning for events like the ones in Colorado/Conn? My God, he might as well just wipe his ass with the Constituion. Its absolutely insane, I tell you, and a flagrant abuse of my 2nd Ammendment rights.

I'd rant about it some more but in the course of my alarmed and panicky state I seem to have had a little bit of an accident and now need to be changed. Good luck to all. I'll meet up with you at the bunker in Idaho Falls.

PJ I tell you it is the beginning of the end. When the over 200 million guns privately owned in the US are confiscated it is just a matter of time before we are all saluting Hitler I tell ya, Hitler and Stalin.

As stated before I am a gun owner and I hate to see my rights reduced in any way shape or form but I must say I just can't see the point of an AR 15 or a 30 shot clip.

The real chuckler is when people tell me what is going to prevent the governement from taking over when the citizens don't have any guns. Like that compound in Idaho is really going to hold up to carpet bombs. Go figure.

Carpet bombing US citizens? Seriously!?! The fact that the thought even popped into your head speaks volumes.
