Three killed, 4 injured in wrong-way head-on crash on I-15

I guess they better change the name of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
"It is obvious that agitating the coot is the only reason there is a LVA forum". Or is it that it is obvious that agitating the LVA forum is the only reason there is a coot?

I believe that Oriental refers to a style or item from the Far East. A rug or hotel may be Oriental but a person is Asian. I am just sharing in case anybody actually cares versus finding reasons to argue or debate.

The slang "'coon" when it describes an animal is acceptable. When it applied to a human being, no.

I'm really surprised you need this explained to you.

Are you suggesting that it is okay to call people "coons"? (That is pulling a Forkush, i.e. act dumb and stupid)
I have an Asian person in my office (Japanese). I went to the source and asked him if he was described with the term "oriental" if he would be offended. He said "of course not". This is once again Forkie and Chilcoot stirring up shit when it isn't needed.

How ironic that Chilcoot makes fun of dwarves by posting a picture of Eric in her avatar.

Maybe you could give one example when I've done that. One.

That is your mantra ALL OF THE TIME. You ask questions where you put words in people's mouths that they never said.
Wait coot is female, lol I thought it was the guy in the avatar. I really did. Who is that guy?
I think the better point is not the use of the word oriental but the need somehow to include the race of the person involved. Why is pertinent, Bagiant? If it was a white male involved would you be describing his race? Have you in any of your other 11,000 posts on this board posted a story and referred to the race of a white person in the story? So why now? If this was a story about a criminal on the loose, sure the race would be part of the description and be pertinent. But in this story?

Now add to that the 1950's "oriental" term, and it really starts to smell. Do you refer to Japanees as "Japs" still like people did in the 50's? Do you refer to African Americans as "negros" in your stories?

Further, you have a history here of bigotry. I distinctly remember a post of yours that was extremely sexist toward a female you were meeting or dating. Knowing that history makes it even more clear that this was a racist statement by you. (If anyone wants proof I'll search for it later... if I have time)

For the person asking their asian friend if they were offended by the term "oriental", print for him or her the entire post. In context he or she should be able to point out why its offensive.
