Top 15 TV shows of all time

TV Guide printed their list of the top 60 TV shows.

The top 15

The Sopranos
Seinfeld
I love Lucy
All In the Family
The Twilight Zone
The Wire
Mary Tyler Moore - good but the #7 show?
Mash - the first few years were great but it became tiresome as it became the Alan Alda shw
Breaking Bad - not sure it is that good
The Simpsons - I don't think cartoons should count
Cheers
Star Trek - the original & was only on for a few years
The Honeymooners - I think there are less than 60 episodes
Law & Order - the orginal
The Andy Griffith Show - see MTM above

Lost should have been in the top 10. Frasier & Cosby didn't even make the top 60, nor did Bonanza. Buffy, st. Elsewhere & Battlestar Galactica are questionable choices
I'm a big fan of Breaking Bad. If you watch it multiple times you'll start to see and hear subtle things you missed the first time. For example, there are references to the Willie Wonka movie in several episodes.

I agree with you about MASH. It turned into the Alan Alda and Klinger show.

Honeymooners had 39 episodes.

True Detective just started to air on HBO and it's very good after 1 episode. You might want to check that out.
I saw True Detective and fell asleep
Hill Street Blues and Taxi not on that list?

If you're going to include a cartoon show, "The Bugs Bunny / Road Runner Show" should absolutely be in the top 10.

It helped my development in so many aspects of everyday life.

A sense of humor.
Never give up - thank you Wile E Coyote.
Love is a powerful motivator - thanks Pepe Le Pew.
Anger, while sometimes helpful rarely solves anything - I'm with you Tasmanian Devil.
Just because someone sounds like they know what they're talking about doesn't mean they do - Sorry Foghorn Leghorn.
Rough and gruff rarely get's you anywhere - But I still like you Yosemite Sam.
Being crass and obnoxious is usually a sign of a loser - But Daffy Duck still had some classic moments.
You sometimes have to wait to get to something you want - Never was a Porky Pig fan, but something better was coming on the next cartoon.
Even a so-called "good guy" doesn't always win - Bugs Bunny took his share of beatings.
Heard recenlty the guy who thought up and produced Gilligan's Island, Sherwood Schwartz, created the original seven characters after the seven deadly sins. The Captain was Wrath; Gilligan was Sloth; Mr. Howell was Greed; Mrs. Howell was Gluttony; Ginger was Envy; Mary Ann was Lust; and the Professor was Pride.

Apparently a lot of the characters' portrayals were changed around as the show developed and input came from the writers and the actors themselves. So much of the way the characters came across was less edgy and more comical than they would have been portraying characters infected with the seven deadlys.

I have to agree with you on both of these. Even though they shared the same creators, I thought Taxi was better than Cheers.

I loved L.A. Law in the first couple of seasons.

I also enjoyed Dallas and Dynasty (before it became very corny).

I saw a BIO on the show and they didn't say anything about the seven sins, they did say it wasn't meant to centr around bob denver(gilligan) but more around tina louise(ginger). It only turned out that it became more about gilligan, which ginger wasn't happy about. As an aside, there was some serious scuttlebutt about denver and louise doing some hot and heavy behind the scenes, louise denies it, denver doesn't.

Interesting to note, none of the actors made much money at all from the show because there were no residuals in their contracts, Schwartz has made a fortune on it.

Gilligan's Island is vastly underrated. I'd assume Ginger was lust and MaryAnn was envy not the other way around.
The Professor from Gilligan's Island died today. Weird timing for this thread.
