Top 15 TV shows of all time

#12? Fascinating!
Married With Children is missing from the list.

And to be honest, I have no idea of it, nor did I ever see "The Wire". What was that show about, and in what era did it air ?

Pretty sure I was watching Ginger when I got my first erection, so that should bump that show up higher.

(and Sorry for channeling my inner Bagiant there)

Ginger was hot and ready to go. Mary Ann would take some work.

What a coincidence, TVland started showing Gilligan right after Andy and Barney tonight..

Agree with the first three, and the original Law and Order. I watch those re-runs just to hear Jerry Orbach talk.

The Lucy episodes, so funny no matter how many times. Never the need for profanity or hatefulness.
If you have not seen it, check out Firefly --- only one season and the only TV show to be cancelled after 1 year (against a huge public outcry) and then have a feature film created with the same characters

Firefly

It is a sci-fi western - kinda like Wild Wild West. A ship with a preacher, a doctor, and an "escort".

Bags would love it!

In 2005, New Scientist magazine's website held an internet poll to find "The World's Best Space Sci-Fi Ever". Firefly came in first place, with its cinematic follow-up Serenity in second. In 2012, Entertainment Weekly listed the show at No. 11 in the "25 Best Cult TV Shows from the Past 25 Years," commenting, "as it often does, martyrdom has only enhanced its legend."

DonDiego agrees The Twilight Zone belongs in the top 5, . . . some of the finest writing for TV ever, many by established sci-fi/fantasy authors.

And he's happy to see Law & Order make the top 15.

Otherwise, . . . meh.

DonDiego is surprised no variety shows, like The Ed Sullivan Show made the top 15; if there were a similar show today, showcasing top performers along with lesser-known acts, he'd likely watch weekly. But with all the old vaudevillians gone, it'd pr'bly not be the same.

The Wire ran in the same time frame as the Sopranos. I actually would rate it higher than the Sopranos.

Then there is the Ginger or MaryAnn debate which I think has been discussed here before. I'm a MaryAnn guy.

Firefly is often mentioned on "The Big Bang Theory". I haven't seen it but if they made a movie after the cancellation of the series there must have been an audience.

DD, regarding the variety shows you miss, like Ed Sullivan, now you just need to watch "Dancing with the Stars" and all the vocalist wanna be reality shows. I don't watch either.

A variety show I really enjoyed was the "Carroll Burnett Show" as well as, a one year run I believe, of a Dick Van Dyke variety show.
Ginger used to be a neighbor of mine and I worked with her brother on my first "real" job. We used to send a co-worker to Yonkers Raceway to make bets for us when he was off and we had to work.
