At some places in CA, you can gamble at age 18. I believe the trade off is alcohol is only served in restaurants and bars.

From Barona's website, https://www.barona.com/casino/
— Because the minimum gambling age is 18, we only allow children in the casino before 8:00pm to dine in our restaurant facilities (10:00pm for children of hotel guests). They must, however, be accompanied by an adult at all times, and cannot stay in the gambling areas.

Alcohol Service, https://www.barona.com/dining/

Alcohol is available in the Steakhouse, Italian Cucina & The Plaza during their normal hours of operation including lunch.

Alcohol is available in El Rancho Grande:
Sunday from 5:00pm to 10:00pm
Friday & Saturday from 5:00pm to Midnight

Minnesota for one. The gambling age is 18 while the drinking age is 21. Young folks will get carded in casino bars while still being able to play in the main casino.

It would be better if he wrote this:

I should have started that thread weeks ago...
Then my son would have had time to get a fake ID to show...
Who cares if it's not right, for I am above the law when in Vegas at night.
My Vegas trip came to a hard hitting end, 
Like getting hit in the face with a shit loaded pail...
the last thing I planned on was bailing my 
son out of jail.
