It really slows down a game when the dealer has to keep checking IDs. Would be nice if the casino could pass out bracelets to young people who have already been IDed and found to be 21 or over.

Hard Rock, Hollywood, Fl. does use them.

Good god you guys are harsh. At least he realizes kids will be kids and try to get away with stuff. I had a fake ID when I was 17, gambled and got free drinks when I lived in Reno.

I love all the holier- than-thou parents who think that their kids never drink or party...hahahaha.

Totally different if the underaged person is breaking the law than if the parent condones it then gets pissed at anyone who doesn't agree.
Get a few non-W2G jackpot, say $1,000 each, end up the year positive, and then tell your parents that you're going to not pay taxes on it.

I bet they condone it.

I'll type slower this time. Underage gambling is breaking the law. Failing to pay taxes on net gambling winnings, even if their are no W2Gs, is equally breaking the law. If "breaking the law" is your only criteria, then you have to condemn both, right?

But somehow, I have a feeling that some of the most sanctimonious folks here would not go out of their way to pay their lawfully due taxes.

I had a $1207 winning year for 2012. I had $10K in W-2 G's. For income, I am claiming $12,327 in gambling winnings, which is the total of all of my winning sesions for the year. On my schedule A, I am claiming $11, 320, which is the total of all of my 2012 non winning sesions. I, 2008, I pretty much did the exact same thing, only I had different numbers

Now, do I have your permission to say that underage gambling is illegal and condoning it or trying to help your kid get away with it is bad parenting? thanks

Of course you can! But I wasn't referring to you; I was referring to non-W2G quarter players who don't pay taxes on their net winnings. Let's see if any of them claim that they do, and we can all have a good laugh.
I have already had my laugh.
