Well! Is It Time For a Silverton Trip?

This trip isn't even worth writing a TR. Nothing good is happening, and there's been some changes at the Silverton. All of a sudden I'm getting limits on my comps, and I don't know why. I might have started off not playing like a maniac like I usually do, but they know over the course of the trip that I'll put in my hours.

I don't know if I mentioned it yet or not, but I lost my slot host. He wound up resigning over a dispute, and I wound up with one of the hosts that's a nice guy, and tries to give me everything he can, but I feel that for some reason, management is putting pressure on him to hold back comps for whatever reason. Like yesterday for example, All of a sudden he told me when they wouldn't accept my charge at the buffet Friday night, that they forgot to put in my $400 food and beverage comp for the trip. I've never been limited to how much I could charge. I mean the buffet charge was $90..so what does that mean, I have $300 left for the trip? Well I guess it did as he told me we were limited to $300 at Twin Creeks last night. We had to tell 3 members of Faye's family that they couldn't join us last night.

Her son cancelled his trip to Laughlin so he wanted to join us at the hotel like he usually does. So I texted the host who was on the boat, and he texted me back that he would give me 3 nights at a casino rate, and would need a credit card to be put up. I just told him never mind. Then he texts me that I'm not playing enough, and I've taken out $2000 in markers...which wasn't true at all. I don't know who was feeding him this misinformation while he was on the boat, but if he was at his computer, he would see it wasn't true at all. I mean, I'll admit I wasn't doing my usual 8 hour or longer sessions, but I had put in at least two 4 hour sessions.

Faye just isn't getting along well here, although she's played a couple of times already. They have a couple of low VP machines at the Flair bar so she could just pull her scooter up to the machine and play. Last night after Twin Creeks, she and her care giver went to one of the banks of quarter machines and played a couple of hours. I went to bed as I was exhausted, but I started playing today early after a good nights sleep. After spending one night in the regular bed, she opted for sleeping on the couch.

Today, she called me down in the casino and asked me to come upstairs and help her get to the bathroom. Trying to get her off the couch, her arm somehow got caught on my shirt and ripped her skin wide open. What a mess. She was actually thinking about going to the hospital.

So it looks like we might be leaving tomorrow instead of later this week. I'm going back downstairs now and try and give them more action. I just wish these machines would start treating me like they should! LOL!

I'll keep you posted in this thread as there's no sense trying to write a TR this trip.

Happy Mother's Day to all you "mother's" out there! By the way, saw waltandmarcia yesterday when they came over to have the buffet before going to the RIO for the show.

Oh boy, sounds like fun times at the Silverton. Thanks for the heads up! They have been very good to me in the past, however, it looks like times are changing! Sorry to hear your trip is being cut short, I hope Faye is doing better.

No, sharlene is doing her drug rehab in LA at Kaiser. I'm really proud of her that she is doing so well. Unfortunately, she still has to face her DUI charges in Barstow and Vista. If she goes to Vista, they'll then arrest her to face the Barstow charges. Remember, she blew .00 on the Barstow charge and was turned in by a good samaritan for weaving on the road. The police never saw her weaving, and she was arrested after she stopped at a fast food place. She has already pleaded not guilty to the charge. I guess they are going to depend on this guys testimony to get her convicted. If she goes to Barstow first, even if not guilty, she'll have to face charges in Vista. She's supposed to come down here on Thursday to visit her parents. I guess I'll see her then, even though I haven't seen her since Thanksgiving when we were in Vegas.

Some weird shit is happening at the Silverton. I already mentioned mentioned that they stopped the Seafood Buffet on Friday and Saturday nights. They did have it on Mother's Day. Then I saw today that they had no more Seniors day on Mondays, and no more drawings for $100 3 times a day. They've eliminated their poker room, and now have tournament machines in the poker room. However, I saw no mention of the FREE slot tournament which they would have every Tuesday. I might be wrong about that, but saw no mention of the tournament.

I played more than usual at the Flair Bar, mostly because they've improved their odds on VP, and the jackpot was higher than the Shady Groove bar. About a $300 difference, but one of my favorite bartenders was working there. They fired 2 of the bartenders that had been there a while, and one I really liked..Sean. Cris was another one, and this guy kept his nose to the grindstone so I don't know why he got axed. A female bartender...Crystal..took a medical leave and is not expected back. One of the slot supervisors who I considered a good friend also got the axe, and that was a shame, as his daughter got killed in the desert when a race she was watching had a car go out of control and killed her. Her younger sister insisted on moving to a certain place when the older sister told her she didn't feel safe there. Unfortunatley, the older sister was right, and she paid the price. The wife couldn't handle the death...and they are now getting divorced. He's now working at the "trese" a nightclub at one of the hotels. He's a great bouncer standing at 6'9" and about 250. You wouldn't want to mess with this guy. Another slot supervisor is ready to join him there.,

We left early today because Faye was having terrible problems and we had to rush her home. It was too bad as I wanted to try out the jacuzzi and take a swim in the pool. Weather was perfect for a nice swim.

I was waiting for a wire transfer to come in from my brokerage firm today, so last night I was down to playing quarters. I chose the bank of machines near the elevators where the jackpot was near $1800. earlier in the day, the jackpot was only about $1350. I've already told you that this jackpot goes up higher than any one I've ever seen. I was doing well playing it, and hit my first 4 Aces of the trip. When I was so tired that I couldn't play any longer, I told myself that I would come down in the middle of the night and give it a shot again. Even though I did wake up at about 4 am, I just didn't have the energy to go back downstairs and give it another shot. I finally woke up around 9 am, and made it back downstairs at 10 am. When I got down there, the jackpot was now at $1285. I sat down to play for a while, when I got a page from Faye's caregiver that I had to help her get on the toilet. I got back downstairs about 20 minutes later and started playing. Before playing about 5 hands, I hear a guy on the other side of the bank yell, "I GOT IT!" Tis guy had just sat down and inserted a $20 bill and couldn't have played more than 10 hands before he hit the royal. Just my luck. The jackpot dropped down to $1033. I walked around the casino looking for the highest .25c jackpot there was. Truns out that the highest jackpot was on a Deuces Wild machine that was over $1600. I wound up playing at the Mermaid Bar where the jackpot was around $1300. No luck there either.

Right after that, I played at the Flair Bar again, and after going through a few hundred, I got another page again. This time her caregiver told me to get right up there as Faye was in bad shape. I cashed out, and went up to the room, and Faye had her arm sliced open when the caregiver tried to picker her up and her arm caught on her shirt of all things! She was bleeding profusely, and it took all we could do to stop the bleeding. She wanted to go to the hospital...but not in Vegas. She was also having other problems which I won't go into here.

So now I'm back at home wishing I was still there. I must say that sleeping in those Silverton beds was absolutely WONDERFUL! I had the best sleep I've had in months, even though I woke up at times in the middle of the night! Best part was, after having a soda and a snack, I went right back to sleep, unlike at home where I'm been waking up at 1 am, and staying up until I had to go to work.

Overall, I wish I was still there, and I'm sure the Silverton wishes I was there also as I didn't lose enough money! Too bad! I'll just have to make it up to them next time! The last 4 trips there hasn't produced very good results. Those darn royals keep on eluding me. for example, I was playing at the Flair Bar, and got dealt 10-J-Q-K of hearts. I was SURE I was going to hit the royal. But on the draw, the 8 of diamonds appeared. Just my luck, but it's happened too many times these last four trips. You'd almost think that VP is rigged!

Well that's enough for tonight, I'm tired and have to go to bed. Trip back was very safe even with having a back seat driver in the caregiver.

I'm more depressed.

Don't use gambling as a means to escape reality. It's just too expensive to chase those jackpots.
