I've always watched The joy of painting whenever it happened to be on and always thought it pretty fascinating some guy could create something so cool in a half hour. Well, having so much time on my hands I figured what the heck(can't even draw a stick figure), I'll give it a try.I got online and ordered some of his instructional vids, and my wife got me an easel and a few other things at Christmas as well.

Let me tell you, it's wayyyyyy way harder than he makes it look on his shows.I'm still not sure if it's as relaxing as I thought it would be.TBD. I'm still in the "practicing" stage, mountains and waterfalls mainly and some look more like them and some don't, well don't mostly . I'd post some pics but with photobuckets trouble(mine actually), not even gonna try. Cost is negligible tho the paint is a lot more expensive than I thought it would be.

Have you ever tried nude splat painting like Maude did in the Big Lebowski?

I like painting too!!! Years ago I watched the "Joy of Painting" with Bob Ross. Now I do mostly Donna Dewberry stuff. One stroke painting is tons of fun and not expensive at all, as craft stores usually have the paints on sale. You can find instructional video on you tube.

If you are adressing me, I am not "girl".
I'll ride my HD. in fact, I would rather push it than ride you.
Being compared to her makes me ill.

I collect outdoor Christmas figures (and lights of course). Up to about 400 figures/scenes, which I display every Christmas to about 30,000 visitors.
Gambling trips pretty well fill up the rest of the year.
I think the default hobby for every poster on this thread (myself included) is gambling. I can't put a dollar figure on exactly how much that hobby has cost me, but I'm sure my savings/retirement accounts should be heftier than they are right now.

I used to go camping a lot in my 20's and 30's and dreamed of visiting every national park in the US. I still dream of that, but sleeping on the cold hard ground gets less appealing as I get older.

Now, thanks to my fiance, I have gotten into video games. I tend to prefer MMO's while he is partial to FPS's (massively-multiplayer online and first-person shooter for non-gamers) but we enjoyed many an hour in World of Warcraft, Dungeons and Dragons Online, and Neverwinter. And once Plants vs. Zombies 2 shows up on a PC platform...my free hours will be set.
I agree the gambling unites us all. My biggest hobby is showing my dogs. Fishing is another.
