I don't think it has anything to do with race.....I think it's just the police never liking to be challenged, and they don't care what color you are. You don't cooperate and do what they tell you and you're going to have problems. I just think there are too many cases where a person that is supposedly threatening them can be taken down by a means other than being shot! There was a case many years ago when a women was late on her utility bill and was threatening the electric company guy who was going to shut off her power with a knife. Naturally police responded and wound up shooting her to death because she wouldn't put down her knife! There were at least 10 officers there that could have overpowered her with no problem. But they chose to shoot her instead. Nowadays, police have tasers as a defense against people that don't want to comply with their wishes. We've all seen how tasers render a person helpless and defenseless.
We just had a situation here in SD where a man in Mission Bay was waving around a pistol threatening to kill himself. Actually, the first call to 911 was the man claiming he was going to commit suicide. They wound up shooting him in the stomach and he wound up alive, but they could have tased him and got the same result. He was white.
