WSOP Champ Greg Raymer arrested in prostitution sting

I can't believe that things like prostitution, weed, online gambling, etc. are still illegal in this ass-backwards country.

BTW...somebody needs to get Raymer on The Biggest Loser, and he needs to at least make it to the makeover episode. Jesus that is one ugly dude.

Are you being held hostage or here by your own choice?
If by own choice, it sounds like you made the wrong one for yourself.

Well Chilcoot, perhaps it is you who should think things out a bit more. It was indeed the police who were prostituting themselves out in this case. Was a real prostitute involved? No. Was a police officer posing as a prositute? Yes.

We have all seen these stings on TV plenty of times. The cop, dressed provacatively, strolls back and forth on her street corner and when approached, leads the man to a room next to a room full of cops and he gets busted.

As i stated before, this is his fault for attempting to buy a whore. But would the crime have taken place if the cops hadn't set him up in the first place? Maybe not.

Would you purpously tempt a child with candy after telling him not to eat candy? Would you place dope by a junkie after cleaning him up?

Lets face it, prostitution has been around for thousands of years. Is there really ANY real chance of ever eliminating it? No. No. No. These stings take place for one reason and one reason only. They are a cash cow. Well, maybe two reasons. They are a good news feed to make the local police look like they are doing something beneficial now and then.

Before you go blindly go waving the flag and patting every cop you see on the back for being such a wonderful person and doing such a great job of protecting everybody i would suggest a bit of research into just how many police forces here in the U.S. have been under investigation inthe past 20 years for corruption. How many indivdual officers have been arrested for various crimes while on the force. How many innocent men and women have been sent to prison due to shoddy police work. Just for starters go online and watch some of the film of the New Orleans cops looting etc. after Katrina. Very upstanding work there.

My point is, while a policing force is necessary in society, i certainly don't put blind faith and trust in their ability to protect me and uphold the laws of the land while being completely trustworthly themselves.

And these "sting" operations are nothing more than a sham to fill the local coffers and do nothing to stop prostitution. They know it, i know it, and you should know it.

That's why they bluff but end up looking like a donkey.
I owned a business years ago in a certain city that was located on the city's main "drag". This smaller city was mostly blue collar types, a working's man city really, you could say it was definely not an upper class town. There were motels, liquor stores, and a few strip clubs prevalent along this main road and the particular road had very heavy road traffic as this was the main way to get to numerous other small suburban cities within the major metropolis.

This roadway may have had a small share of "working girls" plying their trade at various times throughout my time in said city. Certainly nothing out of the ordinary, and certainly not out of control, maybe a girl here and there was seen looking for business.

Sometime along the way the city decided to start using policewomen as decoys to thwart the prevalance of these unsavory women by trapping their clients of solicitation..Still not that unusual.

So, the minor problem of streetwalkers was corrected quickly, yet the city continued on with the decoys for years and years. It got to the point that all of us business owners knew that if you saw a girl on the roadway looking sexy it had to be a cop, not a real prostitute.

The main road always had new people that had just moved to that city, or an adjoining city or whatever, so business was always good for the cops pulling off this "sting" operation.

The cops and the city people could not bring themselves to stop it as it was so profitable....If someone simply pulled up to the decoy and did not say one word to her they were arrested anyways...No proof of any crime was needed....You are guilty, no way you could plead innocent.

So the "johns" were arested and booked. First thing is that their car was impounded, $600 to get it back.

Next, bail is set, $1500 or so to get out...You would not want to spend 5 minutes in their jail...I saw the inside one time and it was absolutely disgusting. Now a hearing is set before the judge....You need an attorney for that...another $500.

With court costs, bail, fines, attorney fees, etc. it comes to around $4-5 thousand dollars for simply pulling up to talk to a girl on the street. They had no interest in public safety....Just get the cash...Too profitable to give up, so they ran this scam for the longest time until the local news channels started digging into it to expose it. Finally the run of easy cash ended after the news reporters made the city officials look bad and they had no choice but to stop it.

Looks like the "hooker" scam is still proftable, and still going on somewhere, someplace....Just ask Raymer.

Like most words in English, the word "guilty" and the phrase "committed a crime" have particular meanings. They do not describe a police officer who, within the confines of the law, participates in an undercover sting.

I get that you don't think police should pose as prostitutes in order to arrest Johns. Fine, say so.

Don't describe the cops as criminals for doing that. They're not.

I don't think police are infallible, far from. In fact, that's one of the reasons I oppose the death penalty. I think it's too great a power to give a government run by fallible human beings when we have the option of imposing life sentences.

I've heard that there may be about a quarter million words in the English language. Use ones that fit what you're trying to say.
