High on the Strip

Hard by Planet Hollywood there’s a strip mall where you can get some egg rolls at Panda Express, satisfy a Big Mac Attack at McDonalds … and buy pre-rolled joints at the little boutique above. Legalized marijuana hasn’t infiltrated casinos yet, but it’s getting closer. (Addendum: Actually, it’s untruth-in-advertising. A source says Rey Las Vegas is just selling CBD product and the “Pre-rolls” is purely for show. Still, a sign of the changing times.)

  1. Hypocrisy about cannabis lives on in all 50 states, but it really is front and center in Nevada because of the lax rules about alcohol and drinking in public, and because casinos allow tobacco smoking indoors. Just ban all smoking indoors like any sane brave locale would, and allow cannabis to be smoked in the areas designated for smoking. Nevada has made clowns of themselves by openly begging for tourists to buy weed, then at the same time not legally allowing it to be smoked in public, while drunken stumblebums drink from five foot horse buckets openly on strip sidewalks… Just where are the marketed tourists supposed to smoke their pre-rolls? The Las Vegas Metro Police certainly do not want to spend time pinching the tourists for weed, when they rightly understand those same tourists give them their jobs and allow them to not pay state income tax. Cannabis makes politicians stupid, Nevada was very slow to embrace it despite the libertarian slant it brags about, the time is ripe for sane legislators to wake up and smell the coffee…

  3. There are 31 reviews on Yelp for Rey Las Vegas and 30 of the reviews are 1 star out of 5. Some of the comments include I bought 4 pre-rolled joints for $50 and smoked hemp, not weed. Rey Las Vegas play their music extremely loud so you can’t hear anything so its pointless to ask questions.
