Deke, my editor at the Las Vegas Advisor, asked me to expand on the changes in the mailer from Rainbow/Emerald Isle and this is turning into a whole article on why I love Rainbow.
I stay at the Downtown Grand and drive out to Rainbow a LOT. It’s only 15-20 minutes down the freeway and as I have hundreds of dollars in unspent comps and am on a first-name basis with the staff, I love going — sometimes for breakfast, sometimes dinner, great games all the time. The Rainbow’s daily specials, most for $9, are fantastic.
I’m an anti-Strip guy. When I went to the Pinky Ring at Bellagio nightly for a week or more, I was overwhelmed by the traffic, crowds, $18-$20 parking, and the unplayable games.
But way out on funky little Water Street in Old Henderson, I found my intimate and insanely friendly goldmine, baby.
Since the recent Emerald Isle/Rainbow buyout, the first sign of ownership change is they combined the two properties’ monthly mailers. Each had weekly coupons for the Emerald Isle diner and my fave, Triple B at Rainbow. Now the weekly free meal is either/or, one coupon in one combined mailer for both properties and you can go to the diner or Triple B for breakfast at either place or dinner.
To me, it’s not that big a change. I never could use all my offers anyway.
True, some of those came from hitting some super 50x (+5%!) points on video reels 2-3 a.m. or just the 25x midnight-2 a.m. and 4 to 6 a.m. You won’t get super multipliers on 10/7 Double Double Bonus, but
I’ve played a lot of qualifying games at 101% or better.
I also want to give a shout out to locals that their monthly ticket giveaways are awesome! You earn points all month and put the tickets in the barrel; I’ve been there for giveaways and NO ONE SHOWS UP! They often have to call three, four, or more people to find a winner who’s present. And the prizes aren’t shabby — two tickets to Golden Knights games and all sorts of great concerts. I even saw them give away two tickets U2 at Sphere. That’s a $1,200-$1,500 prize. And on Mondays they have easy- peasey gift days, only 200 points.
Other things I like about Water Street in Old Henderson are all the funky cool shops and restaurants. Many of them take your points from Rainbow and Emerald Isle.
The third casino there, the Pass, gives out $10 in free play and there’s a Circa Sports outpost right by the door. While I’m at Rainbow and Emerald Island, it’s easy to place and cash my Circa bets.
So Deke, sorry, but you’ll have to edit me down again. I just can’t say enough about Rainbow and Emerald Island!

Folks, with the recent buyout and merger, there are a number of downgrades happening as well as some improvements. First, the point redemption was chopped from 500 per $1 to 1500! Ouch! The reason I was given is that they’re merging the point multipliers from Emerald to Rainbow and there will no be opportunities to earn the higher 50x, 75x AND 100 X periods. This unfortunately will be limited which games it will apply for.
Also, for May, I received my new mailer and they seem to have eliminated the weekly free-meal coupons. This may be because I wasn’t there in March or they may have cut it altogether. I used them in an updated one where they combined the coupon, so you only got one meal a week in either Emerald and Rainbow. It was really over the top before where you could get two free meals per week. Ah well. On the bright side, increasing the 25 x period to include the bar VP means even their lowly 9/5 JOB is now a 100%+ game during 25x.
Further clouds over Rainbow. I still love this place but they were clearly giving away the farm or at least the new owners are not as insanely generous.
Points conversion is confirmed now 1500 =’s $1 from 500 or less.
Monthly mailers will only give weekly free food comps to second tier or higher. Go locals !
Imagine you have $200 in comps for a diner where great food is under $10 and you had pulled several K out in winnings.
it just doesn’t get much better than that for this scuffler.
use your MRB’d for two 4 one meals and free spins.
There are still some great DDB 100% and other very good VP oppty’s like Job at bar during 25 x etc.
Lots of slot progressives for those of you so inclined.
I was chasing a 9 line x$.20 ( $1.80) for a $11,750 Triple 7 slot progressive that was when I left $2,500 over its last highest payout. Well worth and earning up to 50 points per spin in 25x
Funny I had earned almost 200,000 lifetime points and never advanced beyond tier one Jade but they now reset every quarter.
I also earned most during 25 x or 50 x at Emerald.
I would still chase 25 X during say gift day or other promo’s the 200 points qualifier was on base but still would also earn comps very fast. Often $10 to $20 in a short session
New sign ups will get a free meal and another $5 comp for a local place like donuts.
Food at Triple B is still insanely low priced home made and delicious. Most daily entrees are $9.00. handmade shakes $4.
Triple B is open 7 AM to 10 Pm and Emerald Isle diner is open 24/7
There are still so many daily free spins, easy 200 point gift promo’s on Monday and other days its hard to keep up but they give the schedule at the cage,
Emerald Isle just gave away 4 Rolex’s and the present monthly is tickets to see Pat Benatar.
I still think that’s a value play there as the monthly barrel ?
often people aren’t there and they just keep pulling names out of the pretty small barrel.
Sigh I told you people to run not walk and okay the super times are over but this is still a wonderful place that I enjoy, very old school charm, friendly great inexpensive food good games all around win just remember the super plays never last .
That’s what I hunt for and hope you got in when the giving was great.
I’ll be looking farther afield once again on my next trip.
Also, go next door to the Pass.
They give you $7.50 a week food comp if you have a heartbeat.
And $10 Sign up cash and it was my birthday month and they gave me another $20 food comp and $15 in FP. No good games but who careS?!
try their Italian rest with your birthday comp.
I also met a fellow LVA MRB VP scuffler on my way home on a red eye who had been loving Rainbow too ! btw I have been in Vegas 26 days..this year The adventure continues Bobby
