Main Street Station or California?

I would pick Rainbow.Cute fresh looking cafe.

Our room at the Cal was pretty good last time, except for the siriens and trains.  I don;t see any reason to go to Main street station.  Last time we had free rooms there we checked in and said no way.  But we did have other options

What made you leave after checking in?

I was at MSS a couple of weeks ago.  Some machines still do the "Score With Four", but it is now in an electronic format.  If you hit a quad on an eligible machine, it pops up on the display.  The machines at the bar do this.  Unfortunately the paytables have been diminished.  I sat there to get one of their decent craft beers and played a few hands and hit.

As for the rooms, I'd stay at the Cal or Fremont.  The last room I was in was filthy and I was disgusted.  I'll not be returning there.

Did you report your dirty room? How did they respond? Did they put you in a new room? Was it dirty because housekeeping missed a few things or did it look like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time?

The room we recieved was very small, hot and musty.  Small bed and very dated.  We had other comped rooms at the time which were much better.  The very old rooms at Golden gate were better than this room.  Too bad because we wanted to stay at Main Street at least once

Well, every inch of space in there is utilized, and it's always busy, so the only way they could change the carpet would be to shut the whole place down for as long as it would take. Since the place is essentially one big L-shaped corridor, you block one part, you block everything.

I asked if there were expansion plans, and they did mention that they had bought the auto shop across the street, razed it, and turned it into a parking lot. There may be plans for a second building. That's pretty much why the EI and Rainbow have merged. The Rainbow lacks parking.

Those birds are a fairly unusual variety--i forget their name. They're apparently very social, so when a few decided to meet in those trees, the word spread quickly. You're right, it's an unique stmosphere--in every way, the antithesis of a Vegas casino megatoilet.

Kevin, you call the majority of Vegas the megatoilet. I wouldn't go all that far but agree with you in certain points. I take it you mean by that the exorbitant greed that's growing  on the Strip, which makes the tourists (and to a certain degree, the Vegas local community feel uncofortable. I will start a new post in a different section about this delicate subject. Let's see if there are some other people to share our opinion.

I didn't.  I tolerated it because I was on a comp and didn't want to raise a fuss.  It was just me, so I said whatever.  The bed was clean.

The shower was gross.  I swear someone probably had become sick in it.  There was a used Q-Tip under the desk.  There was a candy wrapper in the middle of the floor and it became apparent that nobody had vacuumed the room.  Sorta gross.

I've been starting to lean away from Boyd.  They hate VP players and apparently the LVA as well.  I put some time in at the Plaza on a multiplier.  Now getting offers.  3 free nights.  Doesn't appear to restrict weekends.  I have never stayed there but am willing to give it a shot.

Between The D (I really like the Vue bar- the bartenders Roy & Jason and the progressive quarter bonus poker) and now the Plaza, I don't think I will be staying at Boyd properties unless I need to string some days together.  It also ticks me off when I bring the wife and she has a ruby card and gets squat.  That sucks.

They could still do it in steps I think. For instance, the videopoker corrall in the back could be done in 1 day perhaps. The section by the players club perhaps in 2 steps at nights. The problem is the the bar with access to the restaurant and the main restroom facilities.  If I were the boss at that place, I would probably remove the carpet and have it replaced by that wood laminate. It's much easier to clean and wouldn't  smell so emerald island style like the very very VERY OLD  carpet right now.... There are professional companies specialized in changing carpets and floor material in group sections divided to allow business go on still. I witnessed myself how the Southpoint floor carpet was replaced within 7 or 10 days (entirely!) , including the cash tables pit. Business went on as usual.

But the carpet adds to the ambiance, because so many of the customers are also old, smell pretty musty, and need to be replaced.

Allow me to marshal my eloquence to describe how I feel about Boyd casinos and the way they've treated me and all their other formerly loyal customers.

Let me think about the best way to express my feelings.

Hmm.

Got it.

FUCK BOYD!

Kevin, Station isn't much different from Boyd. I figure you had the platinum level as well, right? And then came covid and the new strategy.  Station doesn't appreciate long term loyality unless you're a local customer who frequents the facility 5-6x/week. My platinum (or "president") level was set back to the basic tier and no more multipliers for me.  And that was it for me in terms of Station Casinos. Look, there are many other casinos to have fun. If they want to make fun with me, the fun is over.
