Surrender is NOT offered by most casinos, precisely because it can be used to a player's advantage!

Not true, Kevin.  Surrender is allowed (versus offered) at many.  It isn't advertised nor is it written on the felt.  Once I discovered it, I've used it often ever since.  Might depend on the particular game.  I remember it was not allowed on Blackjack Switch, which I used to play a lot.  Often when I 'surrendered' other players at the table were surprised, like "what was that?"  They didn't know about surrender.
