About Getting IDs - It isn't easy like conservatives claim.

Does a driver's license work to vote?

Yes.

Yes. And everybody has a driver's license. Except for the people who don't have a driver's license. Those scumbags shouldn't be allowed to vote. Thomas Jefferson said it best when he was drafting the Constitution: "You can't trust a man who doesn't have a driver's license!"

If you show up at the Georgia polls expecting people to believe you when you identify yourself, saying that you are registered and you will sign your ballot accordingly--well, ha ha, you ne'er-do-well scoundrel! We have you at last! If you don't have picture ID, you're obviously one o'them DEMURRKATS tryin' to cast a fraudulent vote!

The Georgia Republicans are wise! Somebody signs a document, just because that signature matches a previous signature doesn't mean he isn't up to something! But if you've got that lil' ol' driver's license from th' DEE-EM-VEE, well then, that's rootin' tootin' fine n' Jim dandy! Cuz' no one, ever not ever, presents a fake driver's license! No siree Bob!

(Of course, the RepubliQs realize that if you prevent all the people who don't have picture ID from voting, the vast majority of those excluded will be people of color--who overwhelmingly vote Democrat. Might be enough to tip the next election--but don't worry, boys, if them Demmurkats steal another election, why, our boys in the legislature will just declare it null and void. Darn tootin'!)

Liberal continue to argue that one shouldn't have to prove identity when procuring an identification card.  I guess we're just supposed to go on the honor system.  How has the honor system worked in Illinois with people claiming preexisting  conditions to qualify for vaccines?

Okay Liberals, you must have a better argument than the honor system when getting an ID.  Is that the best that you have?

I can beat Boilerman's claims. Getting my voter ID took me zero effort, zero cost, zero time, and zero thought.

Do you know why? Because I was applying for my driver's license. The voter ID part came FREE.

So let's recap:

Car drivers get their voter ID automatically, without effort, cost, or time.

Non-car drivers, largely urban residents, have to invest time, effort, or cost in order to vote.

Gee, our voting laws favor one demographic over another! What do you know?

I guarantee you that Boilerman thought he was applying for a new driver's license, but changed the wording here because he lacks integrity. That shouldn't surprise anyone here.

Getting a drivers license in Indiana does not alone qualify one to vote.

That's roughly one office for every 400,000 people. Granted, not all of them are drivers, but still...actually not a lot.

When I lived in California, I learned to pretty much kiss off an entire morning or afternoon if I had to go to the DMV. Then I allowed for the at least even-money possibility that I lacked some random document or stamp or certificate and would have to come back later and wait in line all over again. Then, of course, I would have to pony up substantial fees for whatever I was being forced to do.

The blithe assertions that it's easy to get an ID card ignore the document, time, and expense requirements. Not everyone has the means, time, money, and transportation to kill a day at the DMV and give them their baksheesh. Just because it's relatively easy for one person doesn't mean it is for another.

Just a side note: in Oregon, the DMV is a quick and almost painless experience. It's also a lot cheaper than elsewhere. It was downright refreshing, the first time I registered my car here. (Not only that, but when you do so, it's for two years, not one, thus cutting your required visits by half.)

Kevin, apparantly effort comes more easily to Conservatives.  What you find as a daunting job, I find easy and simple.

Is this your best argument................that we shouldn't have to prove our identities before being handed and identification document?  And this argument make sense to you?  It's very hard to take you guys seriously.

As Candy said earlier people have several years to get the proper paperwork to be eligible to vote. If people can't find the time to do this then they are just lazy.

That's not what anyone said. You can't think or read.

You're babbling again.

Then what's is your complaint about getting an ID, Kevin?

I don't have any such complaint. I have several forms of picture ID.

However, unlike you, I realize that for some persons, getting a picture ID may not be so easy. Not having a picture ID shouldn't disqualify a person from voting.
