Another School Shooting 15 Elementary Students Dead In Texas

That's like saying we shouldn't have police because there will be murders no matter what.

Making it a severe criminal offense to sell a gun to anyone who hasn't undergone a thorough background check would be a start. So would elevating any offense committed with an illegally obtained gun to a Class A felony (some states do this; guess which, red or blue).

I don't accept the "We can't stop it, so we may as well do nothing" argument in any context. I think that we could severely lessen the number of gun deaths in this country if we stifled gun love and gun culture. For too large a swath of this country, having a penis, er, gun is the ultimate symbol of being a manly man. What it actually is, is the ultimate symbol of idiocy.

Let's start with making whoever sells a gun to a mass-murdering psycho be charged as an accessory to the crime.

We, here in WI, can't even stop auto theft which is going crazy in Milwaukee.  Our court system is a total joke.  How in the world are we going going to enforce any of what you suggested above?  I'm not saying I'm not for it either but who is going to enforce it?   They don't even investigate car jackings.  And we are a blue state and Milwaukee dark blue.

Exactly. I don't condone the violence and shootings. But I still want to know why there is not similar outrage about all of the shootings in Chicago? Why?

I'm outraged that some Chicago low-life criminal can take a $6.75 one-hour bus ride to Gary and buy a gun that would be illegal in Illinois.

Care to defend the rights of the low-life criminal, David?

Fuck you, I'll say what I want, when I want, you racist traitor prick.

We know you hate everybody in the world with the exception of Trump and Putin. We know you're full of anger and resentment. We know you get your ass kicked every time you go to Vegas. Then you come here and spew your ugly bile.

I will "speak for you" if and whenever I feel like it. I call you out on your lies and point out your cowardice. And I will continue to do so, over and over and over and over until you pop like an overripe zit.

Oh, and fuck you.

I know the stats.  I'm just saying it won't work here.  The criminals and nuts can just buy them on the black market.  You are missing the point.

Hey, lets pass some laws enforcing selling illegal narcotics too and making that a felony.  That should stop that as well.

There's no black market in Italy or Canada?     The psycho today bought military grade weapons at his neighborhood store.    You cant do that in Japan.

Our country has more guns than people.  If you dont think thats part of the problem you aren't being honest woth yourself.

There is.  And for the same reason.

The difference is people like you try to blame Chicago violence on Democrat government.   But that argument doesn't hold water in the most red, pro-gun state in the country run by a governor who passed the most far right gun legislation in the country.

And thats why you want to change the suibject, David.  Otherwise you have to question the bullshit you preach.

Car dealers are prohibited from vehicles that are extremely dangerous and they are prohibited from selling cars to unlicensed drivers. Car owners are required to have liability insurance.

It's almost that simple.

I didn't know car dealers were trying to aquire extremely dangerous vehicles.  And there are TONS of car owners with no liability insurance.  At least in this state there are.

My question is who is going to enforce these laws you guys propose?

What exactly does auto theft have to do with gun laws? The vast majority of auto theft doesn't involve a gun at all. And I very, very much doubt your statement that carjackings aren't investigated.

Going back to guns, it's really very simple. Australia said it's illegal to own a gun. Ditto Japan, and a dozen other countries I'm not going to bother to list. But if we can't/won't do that, the measures I suggested--to make selling guns that are used in criminal acts a felony, to elevate charges when an illegally obtained gun is used in a crime, etc.--are comparatively mild and as far as I can tell, aren't really opposed by people on either side of the spectrum. However, the gun nut lobby is powerful and has enough money to buy a sufficient number of politicians to prevent any meaningful reform.

I detest the manly man 'look at my big GUNZ' culture, because shooting someone is a serious act and we shouldn't fetishize it. Trump, fantasizing aloud about shooting people across the border, should have been met with silence and revulsion rather than cheering and laughter.
