Another School Shooting 15 Elementary Students Dead In Texas

Conservatives control nothing in Milwaukee.  It is all run by the democrats.  Look into it if you don't believe me.

The Milwaukee police told them they will just cut the top of steering wheel off and slip off The Club in 45 seconds.  But yes, there are definitely other ways to protect your car.  I just couldn't believe how dismissive the police were about it.

I'm not disagreeing with any of you about the need to do something.  These shootings and assault rifles are sickening.  And yes, there are WAY too many guns in the US.  I just don't know who is going to monitor these gun stores, etc.  Who is going to issue these fines.

Uhhh...law enforcement? Followed by the courts?

But there has to be the political will. Politicians everywhere--and yea verily, that includes in Oregon--are deathly afraid to talk about increased penalties for gun-aggravated crimes because they KNOW that one brief whisper about such a plan, and the NRA will dump $20 million into attack ads depicting whoever suggested those measures as a left-wing pinko commie who wants to take away our precious Second Amendment freedumbs and maybe we'all oughta just blow his head off belch grunt snort.

I think that we don't hold the gun vendors, legal or illegal, to proper account when this shit happens. I attribute that 50% to gun love culture and 50% to the sheer brutal power of the gun lobby.

I believe that if the judicial system put criminals in prison and kept them off of the streets that crime would decrease across the nation. If the laws that are on the books were enforced crime would also decrease. Liberal judges and the asinine defunding of the police across the nation has only made criminals more bolden and less wary of being punished.

I agree. If we put the insurrectionists and the people who supported them in prison, crime would decrease.

I'd visit you there, David!

I love your "bolden" statement about liberal judges. You're so funnyful and amusingly.

The "bolden"part alluded to the criminals - not the judges.

1. Remove gun manufacturers special exemption from product liability suits. Treat guns as any other manufctured product.

2. Require a mental health examination from a professional before allowing people to buy a gun to certify they are suitable for gun ownership.

3.  Make a gun owner criminally liable if someone obtains his gun through the owners carlessness and commits a crime.

I told Davee-Boi to stay off this thread because the subject matter is way past his comprehension.

And he proved me right.

I think you are onto something putting the responsiblity onto the gun owners and retail sellers.  I just don't think expecting the police or court systems to do anything is realistic because they simply won't do it.  I especially like 2 and 3.

I've yet to ever hear anyone explain a rational, sane reason why any civilian should be able to purchase a military grade assault weapon.    Its always one of 2 explanations:

1) "Its my hobby...and I'm not a psycho.  I shouldn't have my hobby infringed upon because of some other psycho".... to which I say, Fuck your hobby.      Take up golf if you need a hobby.

2) "The only thing keeping us from becoming a police state like North Korea is a general public that is armed with military weapons."   to which I say,  You need a mental hospital and are the last person on the planet that should have access to any kind of weapon.    (This is Rand Paul)

Anything that makes mass shootings harder to accomplish is good....but nothing on your list would have stopped the shooting in Buffalo or Texas.     A "Mental health examination" will almost certainly be seen as an invasion of privacy and it also seems like something easy to circumvent.   I dont think an exam from a doctor could identify the guy in Buffalo....maybe a full blown investifation into his social media accounts and interviews with people around him.    We gonna do that for every gun application?   No way.

Military weapons ban - pure and simple.    That wont happen either.   But thats the only thing that will make a real  difference.

Probably right about that.
