Minneapolis to disband police department

NY enacted a new bail law on Jan 1. Except for the most violent felonies, criminals were arrested, arraigned & then released where they committed more crimes & rearrested.

Guess what the NYC crime rate immediately went up.

Proof that when enforcement goes down, crime goes up.

Same thing happened in the late 80's. Police were hamstrung & crime was out of control.

Giuliani/Bloomberg came in & started to enforce the laws & crime went down.

I no longer fact-check tom's claims because they are from tom. And his native tongue is lying.

And yours is complete bullshit

MP doesn't bother to fact check because he knows I am right.

Please provide proof of me lying.

As I said, and anxious for Minneapolis to prove me wrong.  Move fast, please.

Wow tom, you actually cited a source, even if it was from the Fox News family. That's a major improvement for you! Congrats.

But docketed offenses DECLINED about 20%. So it appears that the police are arresting lots of folks on minor offenses and then cutting them loose without charges, perhaps to goose their arrest numbers.

Do I believe America's police forces are willing to scam the public like that? Oh absolutely. We've seen so much criminal behavior by cops over the last few days, can you blame me?

Reported crimes jumped from 13,000 to 16,000. That is the citizens calling the police, so the police are not juicing the numbers.

Only a complete idiot would believe that crime numbers would decrease without the police.

And only an idiot would think that Davie-boy put any thought in his post.

Only a complete idiot would fail to realize that "crime numbers" are the result of whatever actions the police do or do not take, not a reflection of the actual number of crimes committed. Many go unreported; many are not reported as crimes by the police.

The fact of the matter is that the statistics can be twisted to reflect any foregone conclusion you want. Make more things crimes, you'll have a higher crime rate. Reduce enforcement of existing laws, you'll have a lower crime rate. (And BTW, reducing enforcement can actually be a good thing in many instances.)

Under Kevin & co logic, if there were no cops, there would be no crime

kevin & co - have you ever wondered why some neighborhoods have no crime & others do?
