Minneapolis to disband police department

God you are stupid - to make it easy for you - -------------------------------------------------------------"According to CBS News, Minneapolis is the 19th most violent city in America.

Interestingly all 25 cities on the list are run by Democrats. "

NO city is "run by Democrats"--or by Republicans for that matter. Every city is run by a coalition of Republicans, Democrats, and independents. The most accurate way to put it is that the cities are run by their citizens--the voters.

I'd like to explode this stupid Trumper myth once and for all. Crime rates have virtually nothing to do with the political leanings of a city's administration.

The Trumper argument is:

1. Large cities tend to vote Democrat.

2. Large cities tend to have high rates of crime.

3. Therefore, voting Democrat CAUSES high crime rates.

Sounds oh so logical, doesn't it, dumbass Trumpers? Let's try your argument on for size in some other contexts:

1. Large cities usually have several professional sports teams.

2. Large cities tend to have high rates of crime.

3. Therefore, having professional sports teams CAUSES high crime rates.

1. Large cities usually have many Italian restaurants.

2. Large cities tend to have high rates of crime.

3. Therefore, Italian restaurants CAUSE high crime rates.

1. Large cities usually have large fire departments.

2. Large cities tend to have high rates of crime.

3. Therefore, large fire departments CAUSE high crime rates.

Do you see how stupid your argument is, Trumpers? Of course you do. But you'll never, never have the balls to admit it. Cowardly fucks.

More Kevin bullshit - see 1) California, 2) Detroit, 3) Chicago, 4) Boston, 5) Minneapolis, the list goes on and on and on and on........

Who let you out Davie-boy?

man looks like he has his head up dog's ass, perspective, lol

You aren't so stupid as to not realize the argument I'm making, Davey-poo. Large cities have high crime rates. Large cities tend to vote Democrat. Those two factors are not connected.

Large cities have major league sports teams. Large cities have high crime rates. Those two factors are not connected.

If you wish to go on bleating that nonsense, you're going to have to show HOW Democratic voting leads to high crime. And not just by bleating and screaming--by using science and good data. But you can't do that, and you're too stupid and lazy to try.

This is where if I was not talking to a child, I would point out that correlation does not equal causation. But that zooms WAAAAAY over your head.

And just so you know, Davey-poo: California is not a city.

Sports teams do not create/enforce (or fail to enforce) laws/policies.

Italian restaurants do not create/enforce (or fail to enforce) laws/policies.

Large fire departments do not create/enforce (or fail to enforce) laws/polices.

Elected legislators/officials do create/enforce (or fail to enforce) laws/polices.*

Does KevinLewis see the difference.

I would absolutely love to see Minneapolis eliminate the police department.  The city would quickly become an absolute mess that even the nuttiest nuts would recognize.  They would eliminate the desire of other idiots to do the same thing.

I'm rooting for Minnieapolis to fuck things up and for them to do it before other idiots try the same thing.

Just think of the mass exodus from other cities to Minneapolis by thousands of criminals - a certain way for these other cities to eliminate crime. What a great DemocRatic Liberal idea! But I do feel sorry for the many law abiding citizens of Minneapolis who will suffer ....

DonDiego does not understand, apparently, that crime rates are not a function of laws/policies.

He also seems not to understand--and this is what I find hilarious--that a city with vigorous enforcement would report a higher crime rate than one with lax enforcement, all other things being equal. More cops on the streets=more arrests=more convictions. More reported crimes. Higher reported crime rates. More cops, therefore, = more crime. See the problem with overly simplistic thinking?

Policing is just one of the factors that actually affects crime rates. The prevailing conservative idiocy says that Trump-loyalty among the citizens is such a factor. The reality is that the socioeconomic position of the citizenry is the single greatest contributor. Poor areas have higher crime rates than rich areas. Conservatives have constantly taken the fact that poor areas have a higher concentration of minorities to say that minorities cause crime.

DonDiego, along with many of our resident Trumptards, holds Chicago up as a whipping boy. He implies that it is "run by Democrats." Let's take this nonsensical statement as gospel truth for the moment. My answer is: so what? Can we run a social experiment to replace every elected official in Chicago with a Republican and then see if crime rates drop? No, that's impossible. So conservatives keep on bleating that Democratic leadership causes high crime rates, because they know there's no practical way to disprove (or prove) that contention.

The reality is that the situation is far, far more complex than can be understood by a Hannity-meme or a Trump tweet. But everyone is free to default to brainless racism if they want. It's easier to say "them niggers are violent criminals" or "Democrats cause crime" than to consider what truly causes crime--it's actually very complex and entire books have been written about the subject.

DonDiego may wish to consider whether he wishes to derive his opinions from Trump tweets and Stalker rants, or from an in-depth examination of ideas. Stalker and his ilk just scream and insult others who point out the flaws in their thinking, but DonDiego should be made of sterner stuff.

NY enacted a new bail law on Jan 1. Except for the most violent felonies, criminals were arrested, arraigned & then released where they committed more crimes & rearrested.

Guess what the NYC crime rate immediately went up.

Proof that when enforcement goes down, crime goes up.

Same thing happened in the late 80's. Police were hamstrung & crime was out of control.

Giuliani/Bloomberg came in & started to enforce the laws & crime went down.
