The party of fiscal responsibility

Just a little addendum to coalesce all this IRS / tax increase/ tax expenditure ball of wax. When I and average taxpayers look at some of the examples of wasteful tax dollar spending, is it any wonder that much of the tax-paying population become irate every April ( sans filing extensions)? I'll just speak for myself..I certainly don't approve of it but..I pay em anyway.

Carry on..and ask for more divine intervention for the Cowboys next Monday night, por favor.

Why do they become irate every April? Because they butcher their withholding and/or estimated tax payments during the prior year and are surprised that they owe money. Or they find out that changes in their circumstances have increased their tax liability. Or they think that the gummint has been putting their withholding in a shoebox with their name on it and they expect it all back. Or they're as dumb as a box of rocks and have to pay some tax service to fill out their return for them, and it costs $300.

The definition of "wasteful spending" is usually "stuff I don't support." Like, for instance. Da Wall---an idiotic waste for some, an indispensable and vital expenditure for others. Or free medical care for "the inferior races." Or money allocated to beat to death teachers who mention CRT.

Yeah, well. It's certain my :"stuff I don't support" list is massively different from yours. We both can make our own list, according to the constitution. List what you want / don't want. I'll do the same.

Ohh, you're an expert in small business / self-employment taxes too, are ya ( the reference to estimated tax payments)? Some small business owners are as dumb as a box of rocks..most aren't( do you have some real stats on it?) Are you aware of each and every potential small business allowable deduction/ tax credits / self-employment tax / sick leave credit inputs on and on...  that often involve yearly  tax law changes and allowances, etc? Are the tax filing compliances / approaches the same for sole proprietors vs LLC's vs independent contractors? I'm not apologizing to you or anybody else for some partial dependence on a long standing CPA to finalize my returns (after I've completed about 80 -90% of the records myself). Why should I? It's about an overall intent to file an accurate return. They often catch things that I don't or am unaware of...sometimes beneficial, sometimes not.

And where was money allocated for beating a CRT- backing teacher to death? I missed that news story. Did it actually happen? Or were you just being your effervescent self?

Why are you so persistently angry? Just curious.

Cheers.

How about them Cowboys?

And how about all those taxpayer dollars that went into building their latest stadium? I guess wastefulness is in the eye of the beholder.

Those Cowboys are ridiculous at times ( last weekend, for instance). They need to power wash their own psyche /heads, seems to me. We'll see.

Are you referring to all the tax exempt municipal bonds  that have been used to fund stadium construction? The same mechanism that has also been used to fund schools, airports, roads and hospitals across the country? Or are you talking about the other proportion paid for by local and state governments via the tax base? Hotel room tax is another area for big contributions (eg Allegiant Stadium in Vegas). It really does depend on specifics of a given metro area where the stadium is built, I guess. And their local city planners and governence...and their expectations to boost tourism and econ growth.

Do I approve of these tax applications for stadium construction? I'm more con than pro, ultimately. I'm pretty content with watching these games on the tube myself. Part of my objection is simply because a Bud Light costs at least ten dollars (often more) a can at a live NFL stadium. Parking costs are ridiculous as well. Once they get these stadiums built, they institute live entertainment taxes, ticket taxes, hotel room taxes, sales taxes, modified business taxes, tourist taxes, tax taxes..it's costly ( $10 beer, etc). It's all a bit reminiscent of Vegas. Even though I'm a basic tightwad, an occasional Vegas trip or a pro game is enjoyable now and then for the Queen and I.

Sorry you asked, right? Let that be a lesson to ya.

I've done my own (business) taxes for three-plus decades, so yeah, I'm aware of the complexities and pitfalls. I also recently got an Oregon Tax preparer license, for which one must pass a pretty brutal test. So while maybe not an expert--I know of whence I speak. But the people who I described as getting angry every April 15 were individual earners, not small business owners.

The money to beat to death people who "teach" CRT wasn't needed after all--there were so many people willing to do it for free (Glenn Youngkin supporters, mostly). It was re-allocated to teaching replacement theory.

Why do you beat your wife?

Let's assume that somehow, a stadium is constructed in a revenue-neutral fashion (perhaps by soaking all the tourists a la Vegas). It still has a negative impact on the community--traffic congestion, etc.--and opportunity cost. The land it's on and the land that surrounds it can't be used for anything else (like, god forbid, a school, a park, a museum, a library, a hospital...). And it's dead empty 9/10 of the time!!! I mean, football is holy and such, but talk about much ado about not much! The Vegas Raiders have a maximum of 12 home games every year.

Why do you beat your wife?

Actually, she beats me ( mainly psychologically; the single instance of physical violence she's bestowed on me is from very early in our relationship..she threw a big jar of Miracle Whip at me which landed on a tile floor, the aftermath somewhat resembling a whirl of white napalm as it dispersed across said floor). She convinced me it was all my fault, of course.  After 30+ years with her, I've become accustomed  to said beatings and have formulated my own set of self-defense mechanisms for ( primarily the age-old feigning ignorance defense). In a pinch, I can still outrun her..most days.

More kevin lies

Kevin:  How does it feel to have the village idiot be your main supporter in this forum?

I really wouldn't wish on that anyone.  I'm sure you aren't proud of it either.

And right on que, my gay stalker shows up because I live rent free in Gay Jerry's head.
