I don't understand why it is ok for the pope to criticize American foreign policy but is immune when he is crticized for his statements.

First of all, Leo didn't criticize American foreign policy; he criticized Trump's foreign policy. Most Americans don't want this stupid, costly, destructive fucking war.

But more importantly, no one ever said he was "immune" to criticism. The backlash against Trump is about HOW he responded to the Pope, not that he counterattacked (as he always does). Trump's response was crude, disrespectful, nasty, and childish. Hell, even his lackey Vance used halfway decent language when he said that Leo should obey Trump.

Tom, you're an idiot, but I think that even you understand the distinction.

You really think that the anger about Trump's disrespect for the Pope is about politics? Most Catholics are Republicans/conservatives.

This is a matter of common decency, civil discourse, and Trump's lack of both, not political ideology.

As the leader of the Catholic Church it is his duty to call out moral wrongs and advocate for peace.

Then where was the criticism when Iran killed 45,000 of their own people or the recent hangings?
