2014***ObamaCare***2014

Oh Forkie, you need to brush up on your critical reading skills.

1. No where did I say that Nick lives in Indiana. He and his family live in Bartlet, IL.

2. No where in my post did I (or Nick) say that he bought a plan through the terrible Obamacare website. He said that he bought a plan after Obamacare became law.

Nick also wrote this.

"I was one of several million people canceled because of the ACA.
I have been forced to educate myself on the new law.
Heads up all you people working for companies that provide your insurance…..a change is a comin…"

Forkie, I don't know if what you wrote is true or not, but I do know that what you wrote has no relevance to the situation that I presented.

I have a good friend who owns a small "S Corporation". He has three employees including he and his wife. Here's his personal experience as of one week ago.

Before ACA
Insurance at United Security PPO
Family of 3
100% co pay after deductible
$7500 deductible per family
$570 premium per month

After AHCA (cheapest I could find that was comparable)
Insurance at Blue Cross Blue Shield
PPO Bronze 06 plan
100% co pay
$12,750 deductible per family
$6000 deductible per individual
$853 premium per month

So…premium increased 50% ($283)
Deductible increased 58% ($5,250)

Okay PJ, Nick's premiums increased $3400 for the year and his deductable increased by $5000. Who get this money?
Here's my answer. I don't believe you.

First of all, there isn't a single Obamacare family plan in the country that has a $12,750 deductible or out-of-pocket. Not a single one in the entire USA. Someone is lying or making a mistake.

Also, United Security doesn't even offer a PPO in Indiana, and they specialize in gimmicky junk insurance like cancer insurance, and "hospital indemnity" which pays you a couple hundred for every day you're in the hospital. So go away and come back when you have real numbers, and the actual title of the United Security policy, along with the state, county, ages of family members, and their income (optional).

Congresswoman Rodgers shamed herself when she described an Obamacare "victim" who turned out to be a Benghazi crazed ideologue who refused to even shop on the ACA marketplace. Her story was debunked within hours, and I suspect your story will be debunked within minutes (healthcare.gov now flies!). That is if you come back with the necessary information to make a non-bullshit comparison. But you're not going to do that, are you?

I argued all along that this was another wealth redistribution plan. Obama and all that Liberals said no. I argued that most people would pay more for insurance, and Obama and all the Liberals said no.

It's now obvious to all that this is a wealth redistribution plan and most folks will pay far higher premiums.

Lots of old insurance policies stayed cheap by
(1) not covering much;
(2) excluding people with pre-existing conditions from the risk pool; and
(3) having lifetime caps.

Now, every policy:
(1) covers pretty much everything;
(2) is available to everyone, healthy and sick; and
(3) has no lifetime caps.

Remember that when comparing apples to oranges.

Alan, you are correct. My friend Nick is married and has two kids in the 19 - 22 range.

This sounds like the Marriage Penalty I have described previously and am also subject to. Husband/Wife businesses are no longer eligible to get Group Insurance as of 2014...due to the ACA. It is quite possible he's seeing substantial premium increases as he's moving from the Group Market to the Individual Market. He merely has to divorce his wife, make her an employee of the S Corp, and issue a W2 for her. Then he can Keep his plan...Just Like President Obama promised.

Alan, you are paying close attention. My friend .Nick and his family live in Bartlet, IL. This is a far NW suburb of Chicago, which the last time I checked is not part of Indiana.

I grew up in nearby Palatine, IL.

Where did he say his friend lived in Indiana?

Okay, now what are their approximate ages?

So, . . . what's the downside?

The parents are 54 and 53. The kids are in their early 20's.

Well, there is the additional paperwork....and the 'death do us part' part might get accelerated once I propose this new corporate structure.
Here is what Boilerman's friend said he was paying for his family of three pre-Obamacare:

And going to healthcare.gov, and choosing Family Coverage >> Health >> Illinois >> Cook or Du Page counties >> Person #1 age: 54 >> Person #2 age: 53 >> Person #3 age: 19 >> No employer health coverage available >> $100,000 income (no subsidy available), here is the OBAMACARE price:

So Boilerman's friend is clearly a very dishonest person. And in Illinois, his previous insurance company specializes in junk insurance (Cancer Product... "medical treatment is not required!")

Still think this is the marriage penalty, alanleroy?
Game, set, match.

Not that it'll change their minds at all. They'll just ignore it and come back with the same defeated arguments. They don't care about what's true.
