(Coincidentally, she also debunks the airborne myth). Perhaps AlanLeroy can share his source for information so we can determine the level of expertise of the person who gave it to him.
5 myths about Ebola
"Many nations have banned flights from other countries in recent years in hopes of blocking the entry of viruses, including SARS and H1N1 “swine flu.” None of the bans were effective, and the viruses gained entry to populations regardless of what radical measures governments took to keep them out."

Of course PJ conveniently left out the alternative that has been suggested many times. Don't allow unfettered access to the USA to people who have recently been in areas of Western Africa where Ebola is rampant. This option has been selected by many other countries including the neighbors of Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea. It's kind of...you know...Common Sense.
It may very well be overkill, but wouldn't that have prevented at least 2 Americans from getting sick? What are they worth? Oh..and you do realize that there is not agreement among Doctors and Scientists on banning travel to the US from the infected areas, don't you?

75% of Doctors Support Travel Ban
"SERMO, the leading social network of fully verified, licensed physicians in the U.S., announced today the results of recent polling of the SERMO physician community about the Ebola epidemic and its implications for the United States.
When asked if they believe all travel from West Africa should be halted to the US, 75% of the respondents chose "Yes." The poll questions also highlight concerns many physicians have about the U.S. preparedness level of the healthcare system to handle Ebola."
Like I said..It's common sense. Unfortunately common sense is not common.
