Anyone offended?

Would you feel the same saying "under Allah"? (or substitute some other fake all powerful being)

If I lived in a country that wasn't founded partly on Christian beliefs but instaed on islamic beliefs, then, the answer would be the same, NO
The first prayer before a meeting of Congress happened in 1774, with some of the Founding Fathers in attendance. Since these folks helped write the Constitution, or at minimum had intimate knowledge of the intent of those who wrote the Constitution, I'm confident that the these folks, if alive today, would argue that the intent of "separation of church and state" has been bastardized.

I'm confident that that would argue that no one should be forced to pray, and that none should be prevented from doing so.
If it offends ANYONE that's tough, a lot of my friends died in far away places like Viet Nam so people could recite sayings like this. This is still the USA
I encounter repost memes on Facebook every day, and I never repost them. There are many reasons for not reposting something, and they all extend beyond the sanctimonious assumptions of the person dictating the repost order. Here is a list:

1. Perhaps I don't feel like it.
2. Perhaps my limited data plan prevents it.
3. In many cases, words are misspelled.
4. In many cases, there are grammatical errors.
5. Maybe I disagree with the tone or message of the original post.
6. Maybe I'm not your personal repost bitch.

I define this reaction as fundamentally and undeniably American. Particularly #6. Anyone offended?

Well if you have bad luck for like 80 more years, don't come whining back here. I don't repost anything because I like to stick it to the man.
Offended? No. I am also not offended by this Satanic Monument that will be placed in the Oklahoma City capital. How about you all?

"Taking offense" has nothing to do with the objection of religion and government. It has more to do with the belief that the government should be guided by democratic law instead of un-democratic religious beliefs.

Like.

"We still remain true to the faith of our fathers who established religious liberty when the nation began. We must remember, too, that our forebearers in every generation, and wherever they established their homes, made prompt and generous provision for the institutions of religion. We must continue the steadfast reliance upon the providence of God. No greater blessing could come to our land today than a revival of the spirit of religion. I doubt if there is any problem in the world today-social, political, or economic-that would not find happy solution if approached in the spirit of the Sermon on the Mount."

--Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1938
I kind of like what the president said:

"We establish no religion in this country, we command no worship, we mandate no belief, nor will we ever. Church and state are, and must remain, separate.

All are free to believe or not believe, all are free to practice a faith or not, and those who believe are free, and should be free, to to speak of and act on their belief.

At the same time that our Constitution prohibits state establishment of religion, it protects the free exercise of all religions. And walking this fine line requires government to be strictly neutral."
"Yo prometo lealtad a la bandera de los estados Unidos de America, y a la Republica que representa, una Nacion bajo Dios, entera, con libertad y justicia para todos."
