How about the title of this thread? By measurable metrics, the border is now more secure than it has been in many years.
DonDiego employed the term "insecurity" in the sense of "vulnerability", . . . the US border with Mexico is vulnerable to being crossed. The border has always been insecure; it remains insecure.
From the original post reference:
"An unusually large number of those crossing in South Texas are unaccompanied children, many seeking to join parents who are already in the U.S. illegally. Authorities arrested 47,017 unaccompanied children on the border from October through May, up 92 percent from the same period a year earlier. A draft Border Patrol memorandum estimates that number could reach 90,000 in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, up from a previous government estimate of 60,000."
"The government has also been flying families from South Texas to Arizona and El Paso, Texas, and releasing them at bus stations. ICE has only one detention facility for families — an 85-bed center in Pennsylvania."
DonDiego suggests that if the number of unaccompanied children arrested reaches 90,000 in FY2014, the border is not secure.
DonDiego suggests if families crossing into Texas are sent to Arizona and El Paso and released, the border is not secure.
And now:
"President Obama on Monday described a surge in unaccompanied immigrant children caught trying to cross the Mexican border as an "urgent humanitarian situation," as the White House asked Congress for an extra $1.4 billion in federal money to cope. Obama said the U.S. will temporarily house the children at two military bases."

Hmm, . . . why would the Government allocate $1.4-billion to house illegal border crossers if the border is secure?
"The Obama administration said Friday [June 6] that it was starting a program to provide lawyers for children facing deportation as it scrambles to deal with the soaring number of unaccompanied minors illegally crossing the border from Mexico."
Ref: New York Times
Providing Government-paid lawyers to illegal immigrants in deportation proceedings is unprecedented. Attorney General Holder is taking the initial $2-million for this effort from funds designated for border security.
DonDiego suggests that if the border were secure the Government would not providing lawyers to unaccompanied minors who have, . . . how shall DonDiego say this, . . . crossed the border illegally.
DonDiego says the US border with Mexico is not secure. If it were secure it would not be necessary to apprehend, feed, shelter, transport, release, and provide lawyers to those who have crossed the border. And that's not even counting the ones that get away!
Oh, and by the way, . . . does forkushV think this is going to turn out well?
