Coke / Pepsi

I find the Coke-Pepsi conflict quite similar to Bud-Miller. Products are far more similar to each other than aficionados seem to think, and blind tastings have demonstrated over and over that most people can't tell the difference.

The amount of sugar found in regular Coke or Pepsi is obscene. I prefer caffeinated diet cola with lime or lemon and a little agave nectar or simple syrup to eliminate the disagreeable "diet" taste.

I've always been skeptical of those cola blind taste tests.

I'm thinking that all the variables are the same except one, temperature,
and the one that they would want you to choose is maybe about 10* colder,
making it more refreshing and seemingly more tastier.

Just my opinion, Rick

I know when I drank DC all the time, I could tell the difference when DP was given without being told.
DP is definitely sweeter than DC and not as much carbonation.

I'm not doubting you treegirl, but just maybe somebody had always slipped you some Diet Pepsi spiked with agave nectar or even simple syrup.
This could account for the less carbonation too.

Just sayin'....

Those who can't tell the difference must have a deep down sub conscious reason for their preference, you know like an ad or possibly supply and demand.
They also may not have been able to say which is which but anyone with taste buds can tell it's two different tastes.

I can tell the difference between the two.If I drink more than two glasses of Coke, I feel like I drank a bag of rocks in about an hour. If I'm out and about and need a "fix", I will only stop at a few places to pick one up. Some stores have "better" fountain Pepsi than others.

I even told a waitress how to tell regular and diet soda. When you pour a diet soda, the foam will be a darker color than it's regular counterpart. If you forget which is which, you can take a straw and stir it up. The diet will not foam back up, the regular will.

Here's my secret for the self-serve fountain drinks ................ shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

The syrup comes out of the fountain first, then the carbonated water.
So each time you push the cup forward, more syrup comes out.
If you do this 5-6 times quickly, (not filling the cup full right away), your Coke or Pepsi will have more syrup and will be much sweeter.

I can tell the difference between the two. Miller has a different taste than Bud and the same goes for Pepsi tasting different than Coke.

Although smoking Bud is far harder than snorting Coke..... The risk of drowning is greater when trying to snort Coke.
