Expressions/Slang from the Past

Get me a left handed screwdriver.
Get me a left handed monkey wrench.
Get me a skyhook.

Useful for those pesky watchers who want to 'help'.

Ahhh,

The famed skyhook, I knew I was forgetting one of those ROTC expressions.

Roadtrip, I think you just exposed yourself as a former military member.

twagner,

I feel honored that you felt that you did decide to contribute "once in a blue moon" on my thread!

[DonDiego employed Google and found two sources agreeing on the explanation for use of the word "Monkey" at the gambling tables.]

"Monkey" is the name for the face cards in a standard deck.

Apparently it originated in Asia in the early 20th century when Asian players referred to the face cards, . . . i.e.King, Queen, and Knight, . . . as "Monarchy" in English.
Over the years it just devolved into "Monkey".

Can you back that up with references, proper research, quotations links ect ect.....
