All guns have safeties, some are the squeeze type and others have a grip type in addition to the mechanical safety. (45 semi auto) In any case any responsible gun owner should be able to tell you rule #1 of gun safety: never point a gun at anything you don't intend to kill/shoot at. #2 All guns are loaded, see rule #1.

What do you consider the safety on a revolver or a Glock besides the trigger? Or is it that the gun won't fire unless the trigger is pulled a safety?
I'm not sure if I understand your position regarding profiling, PJ. Regarding your comment "I question the level of sanity and paranoia of anyone who feels the need for a loaded firearm in public in order to feel safe", you may not have read an earlier post on this subject.

I live in a small town outside of Indy which is a bit like Mayberry from the Andy Griffith show. While I now lock my doors, I did not for a decade or so. I still feel very safe, and the only gun that I own is a 120 year old shotgun which was my great grandfathers. My 22 year old, however, lives in the hood. In a 7 month period, his rental home as robbed, he was held at gunpoint in front of his home, the mini-mart 700 feet away was held up at gunpoint, the drug house 5 blocks to the north was sprayed with 22 bullets, and the neighborhood is now rated as the 5th most dangerous within the United States. Other than my white son and his three white roommates, the neighborhood is fully black. My son has been told by neighbors that the presence of white people is not liked.

This son does not carry a gun, but I wish he did. Both my X wife and I offered to pay his last 4 months rent so he can move, but he doesn't want leave on principle. I'm looking for the next 3.5 months to go safely for my boy.

Aint Georgia great? Its so much safer there now.

Profiling? I wonder if you understand the definition of that word.
I don't wish to profile one group of people walking around with assault weapons and giving a pass to oters....with the exception of law enforcement officials. I question the level of sanity and paranoia of anyone who feels the need for a loaded firearm in public in order to feel safe.

Whats Boilerman's profile of people who shouldn'tbe walking around with guns? I mean aside from Feds enforcing the law at a Nevada ranch?

Just to clarify this point for the readers, if any: Glock Safe Action
"This passive safety system omits the manipulation of traditional on-off levers, hammers or external safeties as found in many other handgun designs.
However, the lack of a traditional external on-off safety means that the weapon will always fire when the trigger is depressed normally: "The ability to fire immediately, without worrying about an external safety, is one feature Glock has stressed as an advantage when selling its guns, especially to police departments. . ."

[DonDiego has found no reference to the manufacturer of the handgun online.
DonDiego has discovered the shooting occurred:
either __ ". . . in a car full of people in the parking lot of a strip mall near Rocky’s Liquor Store. . . "
or __". . .in a Taco Bell restaurant parking lot at 1090 Eisenhower Parkway."]

Strange how a weapon "goes off" when the owner DOESN"T use the F'ng safety?

That's why they have CCW classes BEFORE you get a license.

You do not need to take classes in Georgia for a CW permit.
I had my permit in hand within 30 minutes of walking into the courthouse with no record check or training. That 30 minutes included walking across the street for the Sheriff's signature on the form.

Shocker. Turns out some of gun fondlers don't believe in gun safety - but they do believe in terrorism.

It's not a shocker. NJ has a smartgun law. Once a gun like this becomes available, all regular handgun sales are banned after a 3 year grace period. Gun people want freedom, not some nanny state forcing some unproven technology on us.

So you gun people wouldn't have a problem with it if it was "proven?" I don't believe you.

Why not just let capitalism work its magic. If the biometric guns are great they will displace standard guns. Also, make the police use the same technology if it's "proven".

When you say "I don't believe you." Do you mean me personally or do you think I speak for the gun people? I'm sure there were people that wanted to keep their old ball and powder muskets when cartridges first came out and there are still people that don't trust them plastic framed semi-auto pistols because they're not made out of all metal parts.

The freedom loving gun fetishists in the above article don't want to let the market work - they want to make smartgun advocates fear for their lives. It's terrorism.

And you still didn't say if you would support "proven" technology.

Why license doctors? Why not just let the free market sort it out? If people want to save money by having an uncertified cardiologist replace a heart valve, so be it!

Why require automobile windshields be made of safety glass? Why not just let the free market sort it out? If people want to save some dough by installing cheap plate glass on the front of their car, so be it!

Why have meat inspections? Why not just let the free market sort it out? If people want to scrimp a little by eating cheaper, poopier meat, so be it!

Etc . . . .
