I had a delightful conversation with a health Insurance company rep this morning

Now DonDiego is gettin' real, real sad. He hopes someone arranges some sorta charity concert for poor, old Nick, . . . preferably with beer-tasting on the side, . . .

We are the Nicks
We are the Nicks. We are the children.
We are the ones who make the ACA
So let's start giving
There's a choice (Bronze PPO 006) we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better ACA

The plan I've been citing meets EVERY SINGLE CRITERIA Nick specified in his original email dishonestly blasting ObamaCare. If he had said something like, "I found these features in policies ranging from $573 to $853," Nick would be an honest man.

But he didn't, and he isn't.

And here I thought you were calling Nick a scumbag lying sack of crap because you thought he lied about spending 850 a month on a Blue Shield Bronze PPO 006 Policy. So, in reality you called him that because you think he's a bad shopper?...
He's not a bad shopper; he shopped for a different policy that better met his needs. But then he blamed that $280 up charge not on his additional undisclosed needs, but on Obamacare.

If the Obamacare horror stories were real, people wouldn't need to invent this crap.

But really, how can you say the policies are 'comparable' if one forces him to lose his doctor...
But Nick didn't complain about the provider network, did he? He complained about the price. He didn't complain about the drug formulary either. Just the price. Or that Obamacare policies cause paper cuts. Just the price. The price, and price alone.

Then he dishonestly quoted a price $280 above that of a policy that matched his EXACT criteria, without explanation.

You don't know what all Nick complained about. You don't know what comparisons he made. You only see the base deductibles and out of pocket limits. You leapt to the conclusion he was lying about paying $850 for his Bronze PPO 006 Plan. Now you're leaping to the conclusion that you know the EXACT criteria he used to compare policies. Maybe if you would have asked a few questions instead of instantly becoming #1 Attack Dog for Obamacare, you might have come to different conclusions about poor old Nick. I just knew Nick was a Standup Guy.

I know for a fact I'll pay $2000 a year more DUE TO OBAMACARE for identical coverage...Period.

I know the exact criteria he put in his dishonest email. And speaking of dishonesty...

YOU damn well thought it was about the money:

Come on Forky. Just admit that you thought he was lying about paying $850 a month for his Bronze PPO 006 Plan.

Dude..it IS about the money. The amount of money he's going to have to spend for a policy that's comparable...and why wouldn't you think a comparable policy should include keeping your doctor? Maybe you don't think that's an important criteria, but most Americans do....Period. Maybe when he said it was the 'cheapest he could find that was comparable' you should have asked what all he considered as part of his comparison before you started calling him a lying piece of crap.

I just wish Nick could have defended himself at the inquisition...but no..Forky found him guilty of being a lying slime ball without allowing poor Nick to elaborate on his 'comparison' shopping.

Oh I don't claim to be that prescient; I just knew there was pure bullshit somewhere in the story.

  • I thought there was a decent chance that Nick was a figment of Boilerman's imagination;
  • Or Nick could have been dishonest by failing to disclose extraordinary conditions - like a houseful of smokers;
  • Or Nick could have been like the sleaze cited in the GOP State of the Union response - who never actually applied for Obamacare and just invented numbers;
  • Or he could have quoted a rate $270 higher than a policy that matches the exact, and only, criteria in his email.

    I guess it's Bingo! on that last one, huh?

  • You listed out the Bronze Choice PPO 006 plan for $270 less than Nick's Bronze PPO 006 Plan and immediately called poor Nick a liar. Are you honestly telling me you didn't think Nick was lying about the price of his plan? I don't believe that. And I don't think anyone one else does either. But I still won't call you a lying sack of crap...because maybe you knew there was a more expensive Bronze PPO 006 Plan that Nick might have purchased for unknown reasons, but just didn't see fit to mention that for other unknown reasons.

    He said it was the cheapest "Comparable" Plan. He obviously did not state all the criteria he used to compare them. I don't imagine he figured he was going to be tried and convicted of slimery or maybe he would have detailed out exactly how he compared plans.

    He probably just listed the Deductibles and Out of Pockets to illustrate how much crappier his new policy is with 50+ percent increases in both. You just assumed that's the only criteria he used to compare them. Obviously not, since he didn't choose the cheaper Choice plan. Perhaps forky can concede that he should have clarified how Nick Compared plans before calling him a worthless lying scum suckin' pee-head with a lousy physique. Ok I made that geeky part up.

    Actually, at first I though that Boilerman was lying about the existence of Nick. Of course Boilerman has never shown propensity to make things up, and he's a friend of PJ's to boot, so I should have known better.

    But that Nick's email contained a considerable volume of bullshit? I knew that to my soul, and I was right.

    "At least $15,000 per year"? How do you figure?

    The Illinois BCBS policies we've been discussing cost $6,600 a year. They also have a $6,000 deductible per person ($12,700 per family), with 100% coinsurance. After these amounts, all the treatment for the rest of the policy period is free. And there's no separate outpatient drug deductible.

    I guess the question gets down to the value of health insurance. If a family is so incredibly wealthy (Koch family, Sam Walton family, Bill Gates family) that it can afford to pay out of pocket for any health bill, I agree, health insurance may not be a good choice. They have the means to self-insure. But so few people are that rich that, when it comes to setting public policy, they may be ignored.

    For the vast, vast majority of Americans (say, 99.99999999989% of them), we can't afford to get ill like jatki99 has, what with $16 million in health bills to date and counting. That'd ruin any of us, and leave our debtors (hospitals, doctors, and the government) holding the bag. And you know who they pass those costs on to.

    You'll need to explain your idea of "cheap" for this conversation to advance.

    Jatki is ill? Get well soon!

    WHOOPS, missed that, tahnks ellen m, but getting better all the time
