Oh, you mean like car insurance.

Oh come on forky, you actually want to compare getting new car ins. to getting a new obamacare policy? You realize what a foolish argument that is? People are still trying to get their new obamacare policys squared away, I can walk into any state farm office and walk out with a new policy.

forky continues to trot out this misstatement.

Auto insurance is required if you own a car and register it. If you don't fulfill both of those requirements insurance is not required

States also exempt one from purchasing automobile insurance if one demonstrates one's finances are sufficient to self-insure oneself.

I don't think that is the case in NY but not being able to self insure, I have never asked the question

Compare government mandated insurance with government mandated insurance. Sure!

I suspect more citizens are mandated to purchase vehicle liability insurance than those who are mandated to buy health insurance, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have the figures on that?
Repair shops are not mandated to repair your car if you get into a car accident. The hospital is mandated to treat your broken pelvis from that accident. So then who pays?

We know our resident conservatives despise the idea of government run insurance. And now they complain about scumbag private insurance. What else is left? Is there a magic, healthcare unicorn that can make them happy? Or is this just another in a long line of complaints without alternatives? Yeah - that.

If at first you don't succeed, change the subject

Name one industry the gov't. has ever run well. And what kind of assholes devise a healthcare law where you can't take the policies across state lines. So pj, once again please smarten up. There are many changes to this dumb law that can be made that will highly improve it. But your boy is too thin-skinned to realize and accept that his baby can be improved, from A to Z. That's why he lies so much. It's pathological for the community organizer with no executive experience, at this point.

Health Care is like a public utility. That is you can't live without it. Putting an extra level of profit taker in between you and your treatment is foolish. Health Insurance companies provide no meaningful value to our health care system in modern times they are just leech like parasites that skim off a percentage off every dollar running through the system. Since many of you have mentioned the size of the bill I will point out the underlying problem with modern private health insurance is that it is impossible to underwrite the risk involved and make the premiums affordable to people of middle class incomes. All Obama has done is prop up a system that was failing and guarantee future profits for big health insurance companies.

Since I had Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield under Obamacare I can speak as to how horrible it is. The number they provided for customer service just routes you to automated system. You don't ever get to speak to a real person. I was only able to get through to a real person when I left my phone line open and after 30 minutes someone said hello. I was then told on ACA polices they provide no customer service and call HealthCare.gov for customer service. It was a truly horrible service I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. This story is the proof in the pudding if you will. If they are willing to so openly screw someone out of this much money think of how many folks they have screwed out of a thousand dollars here and a thousand dollars there knowing they will never be held accountable for it.

You mean regulated well? Well, I do believe most state governments mandate that all motorists maintain minimum liability insurance, so that irresponsible uninsured motorists don't cause the rest of us a lot of money. Furthermore, those same states regulate the insurance companies to make sure their contracts are fair and that they pay claims in a fair and timely manner. (Although if they allowed junk auto insurance policies I bet they'd be cheaper!)

It's a pretty good system. Maybe they should try it elsewhere.
