School Bus Monitor

Let me share with you how this plays out in most school districts. When student(s) are misbehaving the driver does one or more of the following:

1. Pulls off the road until student behavior is acceptable.

2. Radios to dispatch to have a school administrator drive to where the bus is parked so the administrator can discipline the perpetrator.

3. Radios to dispatch to have police arrive (if safety is a concern)

4. Drives bus back to school where offenders are met by school administrators for discipline (and parent pick up is required).

5. Makes a report to the school and administrator follows up next day with discipline that typically includes loss of bus privileges and some kind of suspension.

That's how it works in most schools. Can't explain why it is not like that in Greece, NY.

It's true. If you're going to work with middle-schoolers, you need way thicker skin. I'm not saying what those kids did is ok. If it were my kids they'd be in so much trouble right now.
This school district is located about 20 miles from where I live. Marcisdave is absolutely correct when he says that the video was not posted by the monitor, but by the students. I'm not quite sure what the purpose of having a school bus monitor is, but I do think it would be an absolutely fitting irony if the actions of these spoiled children enabled her to finally retire (at age 68) and enjoy her golden years.
The use of school bus monitors , metal detectors in schools and security guards in schools has become necessary because you have unfit so-called parents having children and not giving these children guidance. The problems start at home and end up being the schools problems. The parents of these children need their asses kicked.

You'd have as much of a chance that the mini aholes 'parents' would would have money for private school as a Toyota accelerating out of control and also catching fire....oh wait a minute.

But still, when I rode the bus to school, we had no 'Bus Monitors'. What's their job? Prevent Bullying I bet.

Forcing those parents to send their offspring to private or military schools is certainly not a legal option....just something on my wish list. Perhaps home schooled is the answer. Certainly, the little shits can't come out any worse than they already are ?

And yep....when I rode the bus, there were no bus monitors. Never heard that term till this story broke earlier this week.

Consulted my teacher friend. He viewed all 10 minutes of the video. He told me, that in his school district, the bus monitor would lose her job, (fired), and the kids would get a slap on the wrist (if that). He stated that middle school kids are coddled something terrible, and in the mind of most administrators, can do no wrong. Bullying (either peers or elders) is accepted as just "kids being kids". He also told me that middle school kids in his district act just the way those little bastards behaved.

So, where do we, as a society, draw the line ? Do we allow these spoiled, seemingly entitled middle school kids to run roughshod over our elderly volunteer school workers ? Do we allow these kids to keep bullying their fellow students....because maybe somebody is overweight, has too long of hair (or too short), acts different, ect...ect...ect...

Gotta stop this crap before somebody goes postal.....

The “Let’s Give Karen – The bus monitor – H Klein A Vacation! Fund" is now up to $450,000.
I would break my foot off in my kids ass if they treated anyone, especially an elderly woman, like that. Kids have no respect these days. I have 3 sons and I raise them to be respectful and mindful of others feelings. I would be fully disappointed if my kids acted like this.

It's difficult to change a society gone bad.

Just another reason young folks with any reasoning powers remaining oughta consider relocating to a more civil society, like Singapore or Hong Kong, . . . or Switzerland, . . . or at least insuring their young'uns learn Chinese.

You know who would shut those kids up real quick?

Umm, . . . . "Spare the rod, and spoil the child"__Samuel Butler

My mom taught at an inner city school(dayton),middle 7-9 and every teen there, save a few, had absolutely no respect for her. None, nada, zilch. They would get in her face and blatantly say "F*ck you ms. C-----. She was absolutely appalled of course the first time it happened. She took the kid to the office and was promptly told by the principal to "handle it" herself. The principal told the kid to behave himself and back to class they went. She spent 20 years at that school incredibly, and there was never much respect from some , but the ones that did want to learn she absolutely cherished teaching them. I'm sure thats why she stuck it out there.

I remember back in school there was a bit of unruliness by some, but nothing outlandish like totally disrespecting an adult. First you'd get your ass whacked(back when it was allowed) and detention, followed by possibly getting suspended. I know for some of the kids, they didn't care how much they got suspended so the school came up with something the kids REALLY hated, Saturday school! Had to sit, quiet, with study materials and a drink for 4 or 5 hours(I forget). Any infraction resulted in another sat. school. Now for those that still didn't get the message, the school district had the DMV take your drvers license away. Nobody ever went that far and we had a school of about 2500 kids who weren't too out of control, let alone dis any of the teachers.

John<---who had is own ass whacked on a few occasions. Very few, didn't care for it too much.
