You know Boilerman, it takes a really dishonest person to equate disturbing the peace in a residential neighborhood with street performance on Fremont. Or a really ignorant person. Maybe both.

I consider myself pretty conservative and I like downtown Vegas more than the rest of the city. I also am annoyed by the proliferation of buskers on Fremont street. However, I don't think they should be eliminated as I am aware of their rights as well as mine.

I really dislike the majority of the freelance "entertainment" that Fremont is now filled with. I don't even like the guy with the saxophone. Perhaps holding an earsplitting, teeth grating note for 190 seconds is considered music. Not to me.
The "cupid".......That's just gross.
The pirate girl..........Well, I must admit, I do look.
And the vast majority of the dressed up picture posers......Well, I know why they are there and I hope they can escape their plight (if they want to). Help is available.

So, what should I do if I really dislike this scene? Don't go.
Well, that's not going to happen. So, I stay clear of the "experience" at peak times. I duck into a casino when the sax hits that high note. I hold my breath when I go by the spray painters. I ignore those I wish not to interact with. And I enjoy the parts that I do like.

If it gets bad enough that it negatively effects the business', they will do something about it. I guarantee it.

I doubt that many people have stopped going to Vegas or visiting casinos because they fear the Street Performers like you and DR milled. You have stopped going to Vegas because of them, right?

Maybe for every Boilerman who has been driven away from Vegas Casinos because he fears the harmless street performer there is an AlanLeroyII who enjoys their performances and tips them for it and is more likely to visit the Casinos near where they work.

But even if your silly straw man exaggeration was true, these people have the same right to dress up in costume or make music or dance or sing or paint in public as you do to talk to yourself and hop on one foot.

And if you want to talk about 'unbridled license to cause financial damage', Americans also have a right to picket a business or boycott a business. I'm sure Boiler and DR think their Big Nanny State Government should take that away from the people too.

We have these rights and freedoms because brave men and women have defended them for over 2 centuries. I cherish them. You want to toss them into the trash can of prudish personal sanitation. Goody two-shoes

Oh, and if you've never heard a woman say that she doesn't like downtown because of the creepy people, then you must not be talking with many woman. I like down town, but I don't like these folks being there.

Real Conservatives don't like Big Government interfering with people's choices....and they don't just toss away our rights and freedoms that our military has defended with American blood for so long.

I think the 'creepy people' they're refering to are the panhandlers, beggars, bums, drunks, gangsters and punks...Not some 20 year old dressed up as Mr. Spock. But I can understand how SpongeBob might scare the crap out of you.
