More of Uncle Phil's greatest hits

I have to tell you in backwoods, small towns this is not all that uncommon. I will also tell you that in the hardcore, legalistic Christian world I find it fairly common. My observation is the guys are so far removed from the mainstream and are such dweebs no "normal" woman will give them a second look so they prey on the young girls.

The young girls see this as a way to get out from under their controlling parents and the potential husband loves it because the young girls are easy to control. Normally they won't let their wives have much contact with anyone and never let them get a job for fear they become independent or they learn they don't have to put up with their domineering husband.

I speak from firsthand knowledge on this subject. I have distant relatives who live this way. Usually when the girl / wife and her children grow up she leaves the husband.

But he is ignorant. Because when he cites Leviticus to condemn homosexuality, he should also know that it condemns shellfish, bacon, haircuts, blended fabrics, and so on. And it's cool with slavery, human and animal sacrifices, and the death penalty for adultery.

Phil is entitled to his own bigotry, but unless he's ready to criticize Red Lobster and especially their cotton/polyester uniforms, he needs to leave the Bible out of it.

Forkie I am afraid you are wrong on this one. Many beliefs that fell under Mosaic law were tossed out in the New Testament when James took over the church after Jesus's death.
1. Nope, the Mosaic stuff was tossed before Jesus died. The New Covenant, remember?
2. Making a claim and then challenging someone else to look it up is very lame, and below your usual standards.

WTF is your IQ? There are most certainly hundreds of STATE laws that make it a CRIME to interfere with the rights enumerated. Search "Interference with Civil Rights," to start. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, first referenced in this thread by BobOrme, treats the subject exhaustively.

Give me one example of a law in the US directing citizens to "respect" someone else's First Amendment rights. You claim there are hundreds.

I don't think there are any, because the First Amendment doesn't prevent citizens from doing things. Quite the opposite, actually. It enables people to do things. Things that, in many nations that predate the US, people couldn't do. Like get a reality show and talk like a dope without fear of government persecution.

Give me one example of these hundreds of laws. I'm very patient.

If only people didn't get their panties in a wad so easily..

I feel sorry for Bob.

Plainly, his wife has told him that sexual activity that won't result in pregnancy is somehow "unnatural" and therefore wrong. That only sexual activity directed at making baby Bobs is "natural" and permissible. (And even then just so long as Huckabee isn't on.)

Poor, poor Bob.

NAMBLA agrees with you. Enjoy the company.

You are a complete moron, with no idea what you are talking about. Do you actually believe that burning a church is the same crime as burning a chicken coop? Do you actually believe that snatching a Koran from someone's hands and throwing it in a fire is the same crime as doing that with a pencil? Are you that incredibly stupid?????

I never said that anyone's 1st Amendment rights were violated. I said there are a plethora of laws that require us to respect each others' 1st Amendment rights, and punish us if we don't. And I don't need to give examples, because only an IDIOT would say "give me an example."

The citizens of this country are entitled to the rights listed in the 1st Amendment. No one can take them away. If the Federal government can't do it, neither can anyone else, idiot. Otherwise, the KKK could go around burning crosses without ever being tried at a higher level than someone who tossed a cigarette from his car.

The California Constitution protects free-speech rights in privately owned shopping centers—as long as the activity doesn’t interfere with the primary commercial purpose of the mall.
So, a privately owned shopping center [e.g. Pruneyard Shopping Center] in California can be directed to respect someone else's First Amendment rights.

The US Supreme Court has upheld this right because California's Constitution contains an affirmative right of free speech which has been liberally construed by the Supreme Court of California, while the Federal Constitution's First Amendment contains only a negative command to Congress to not abridge the freedom of speech.

DonDiego thanks Chilcoot for his patience.
