Thank Goodness, the French are with the US, . . .

Are Liberal unsuccessful "attempts" to make the World a better place good enough? I think not. We have 150 years of proven failed Liberal policy "attempts" with Indians, and we're half way there with American blacks.

As with everything else, the Liberal solution after 150 years of failure is "more money".

Since we're talking about history, I believe that it was a group of Liberals who decided to give Obama the Nobel Peace Price. Liberals are all about good intentions and warm and fuzzy thoughts, while Conservatives are all about performance and reality.

Liberals try to make the world a better place and conservatives complain a lot.

I think it's great to dig up old threads. I know that there are a lot of posters here that hate it when their words come back to haunt them.

Maybe fewer Obama hate threads would start if the authors knew their crazy Fox News talking points look pretty ridiculous only one year later. Putin, the great man of peace.

Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti remains dead.

One year later and things couldn't be better over there.
Wait a minute !

Has Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti been resurrected ?

Still dead. That wasn't the question. This was "how'd that Iraq thing work out for us anyhow?"
I don't know if word had made it Appalachia yet, but Iraq is a cluster fuck right now. Anyone that still thinks killing Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti was a solution is not paying attention. Anyone that thinks the invasion of Iraq helped either the US or Iraq is lying, kidding, or brain dead.

On the other hand, anyone that thinks killing Saddam was a mistake, might have a point. Let's see how things turn out.

Iraq wanted more American troops to stay in Iraq as the war was winding down. ObeyMe said no. They wanted 20,000. He offered 2,000. The still fragile government and military knew stability was not complete. Instead of doing something to continue to stabilize the country, ObeyMe thought total withdrawal was more important. ObeyMe knew more about Iraq than Iraq knew.

....and in case MSNBC didn't report it, Saddam stood trial in Iraq and was executed. Not by the USA. Anyone who thinks that was a mistake should take it up with them. ....it wasn't a mistake, and killing his sons removed a far greater threat to humanity than hanging Saddam did.

Numbers52 is correct; "Still dead" was not the question; it was the answer.

But that exchange is from a long-ago thread "resurrected" by Chilcoot to deflect from the topic of this thread which is The Obama's i. contemplation of military action in Syria and ii. providing weapons to the Islamists rebels in Syria. DonDiego opposed both. He opposed both because he wasn't sure which side was worse - Assad or the rebels.

How'd that turn out? Well i. the US did not enter the fight against Assad, but ii. the US did arm the rebels, thereby increasing the carnage. As a result the more, . . .umm, . . . unpleasant detachment of the rebel force, once known as "al Qaeda in Iraq", now known as The Islamic State , . . . and armed by The Obama has captured about a third of Iraq.

Allow DonDiego to paraphrase another LVA Forum poster "Anyone that thinks the arming of al Qaeda in Iraq/ISIS/ISIL/The Islamic State helped either the US or Iraq is lying, kidding, or brain dead."

Oh, . . . and since the thread has expanded from the Syria conflict and the US alliance with a French warship, . . . to the old Iraq conflict, . . . to the present Iraq conflict, . . . DonDiego might as well paraphrase another LVA Forum poster: "How'd that Libya thing work out for us anyhow?"

Is there a word for someone who complains about military intervention out of one corner of their mouth...and then complains the president is not militaristic enough out of the other corner of their mouth?

Maybe we can invent a new word for that. Any suggestions?

Under obama the military has been pulling back and is in the process of shrinking to the smallest size in 70 years, in spite of growing threats from the Russians & Chinese as well as increasing unrest in the Middle East..

obama is meeting that threat this week by playing golf this past weekend & is now flying to Seattle for yet another fundraiser
I cant wait for Hoops defending Rand Paul's military philosophy in the months before Hoops casts his vote for him in 2016

Well we still spend more on the military than almost everyone else combined. I say stop fighting WWII. Pull out of Europe and Japan. They can afford to defend themselves. Muster those brave soldiers out of the Military and into the Border Patrol to guard our Southern Flank. All that money then gets spent here in the Good Ole USA rather than Germany and Japan.
