I'm in my late 50's, unmarried, and am retired with around $40,000 in income. My previous policy with Anthem BC was cancelled because it in no way met the Obamacare minimums, like pre-existing condition coverage, and such needed coverages for an old single man like maternity and pediatric care. I had been paying $287/mo. with a $1000 deductible and 30% copays.
I'm definitely calling bullshit on this.

No way could a late 50s American male with one or more pre-existing condition buy meaningful health insurance for $287/month in 2013. Either you're just wrong, or the policy was a complete joke and didn't really pay for anything. You kind of hinted its the latter, so I'm guessing it excluded "options" like hospitalization, prescription drugs, and "making albeadle33 better".

Sorry, I don't believe you had anything that could fairly be considered "health insurance", and I have to call you on it.

That must be the typical Team Obama assertion in these days of massive humiliation for the president. Yes, I was paying under $300/mo. for the past 8-1/2 years. It paid for my knee operation last year, and for the painkillers during healing afterwards. It was a normal policy. I had no pre-existing conditions when it started. Now these idiots are forcing me to dig into money saved for advanced years just to pay the premiums and stupid deductibles that you never hear that dumbass lying president mention a word of. So please Chil, please explain why he or that incompetent Sebelius ever talk about all those rising deductibles.

Pretty funny, all the folks her who know just how much others policys sucked and have been delivered to the utpoia of obamacare. Doesnt matter that they actually dont know jack about exactly what your situation was, it really doesnt, they know better than you do and all from there keyboards. Amazing, truly amazing, I think I now what became of Miss Cleo and friennds.

A number of top cancer hospitals are not part of the obamacare plans. They include Sloan Kettering, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Cedars Sinai and only a few plans include the Mayo Clinic
Forbes lends some insight into the junk-snake-oil formerly called "insurance plans"... this is what our resident conservatives are upset about. People no longer have the right to buy the Brooklyn Bridge. What a shame.

Forbes - 1200 garbage plans covering 4 million people

"The stories are hard to imagine – including this one -

In September 2010, Missouri regulators issued more than $1 million in fines against 13 companies and individuals that sold discount plans misrepresented as comprehensive health insurance. Regulators said many were promoted through faxes advertising “AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE PLANS!” and consumers were told, “This is not a discount plan!” One woman bought a plan to get the advertised free flu shot. A year and a half later, all she had to show for her $1,717 in payments was one denied claim … for the flu shot.

Yes, only a few plans include the Mayo Clinic. And that wealthy woman in San Diego won't be able to fly around and get insured treatment in Palo Alto and in Texas and in San Diego. She'll have to choose.

But as of New Years Day, the parents of a child with pre-existing cancer will be able to obtain affordable insurance - so that maybe their child will be able to celebrate more New Years.

I'll take that trade-off.

To summarize;

obamacare has missed most of the deadlines imposed by the law, numerous exemptions have been given out to special interest groups, the website is a disaster, millions ofpolicies have been canclled, hospitals and doctors are not in the plans, enrollments are way below estimates, taxes have been increased and the IRS who is charged with enforcement has numerous scandals of it's own.
Here is a quote, just think about what currently is going on.-- "The more we do it to you, the less you seem to believe we are doing it" - Joseph Mengele.

Ah, . . . so forkushV agrees the "wealthy woman in san Diego" lost her health care plan because of Obamacare.

Does the fact that Ms. Sundby is wealthy and flying around to doctors justify cancellation of her health care plan?

The Wall Street Journal has a video of this woman online; she does look evil, . . . a little.

Anyway, . . . and here's a Democrat in Colorado who supported the passage of Obamacare, . . ,. until her health care plan was cancelled:
"[Cathy Wagner] was shocked further to learn that for the same coverage she would pay 35 percent more and have a higher deductible."
