No apologies should be made for making it illegal for con artists to sell people shares of the Brooklyn Bridge.
If people want to pretend to be upset about that "destruction of their freedom" then so be it....it makes for good comedy.

There are some people (a tiny amount) who had legitimate insurance whose rates will rise under the new law. If something can be legitimately done to alleviate their situation then I'd be open to having the government look into it...keeping in mind that no system is perfect for every person.

The goal of any government policy is to benefit the most people possible while letting as few as possible fall through the cracks. And I'd be happy to have that pissing contest with anyone who might argue the previous train-wreck system we had was better.

The goal of this government policy is not health care or benefiting "the most people". It is about control and money. If it were about health care, there wouldn't have been 16,000 additional IRS agents hired to police compliance.
Hey BobOrme, since we're talking about integrity, how about yours? Where did you that 16,000 additional IRS agents figure? I mean, it would be nice to know who YOU believe.

And I see you live in the same bubble as all right wingers that believe somehow uninsured people dont cost taxpayers any money.

I haven't had health insurance in years, and it hasn't cost anyone else a dime. You appear to be blind to the fact that some people without insurance pay for their own health care out of their own pockets.

It is an estimate. It might be too high, but time will tell.

But since DrMilled and Don Diego run away every time I raise the issue . . .

DonDiego doesn't recall running away; and given the ever-advancing decrepitude to which DonDiego is subject, he would not get far anyway.

The study was done by Families USA, an organization in favor of govt social spending, not USA Today.

More people have lost insurance than signed up for insurance under obamacare

Are you really so wealthy that you could pay for every malady that could come your way?

As a human being, you may get end-stage renal disease. It costs the average sufferer $173,000 to treat. Can you afford that?

You also might get cancer and need surgery or chemotherapy. That costs $123,000 on average.

Maybe you'll lose the ability to breathe on your own and will be put on a ventilator. I'm sure you're not average, but if you were, that'd be $314,000.

If you have the ability to afford these expenses, that's pretty impressive.

I suspect, however, that in reality you'll rely on a combination of emergency room care, public assistance, and bankruptcy, shifting the cost onto the rest of society like the good socialist everyone becomes when faced with crushing, unavoidable debt.
I was making no statement, had no agenda, and was taking no side.

I saw the article on AP, and saw that it had to do with my home state. I posted it because I thought it might foster more discussion here.

Other than that I don't give a f*ck. Which is why I neither read the entire article, nor put any thought into what I read.

Oregon
You would benefit from reading the article you posted.

It says that Obamacare has already reduced Oregon's uninsured population by 10 percent, thanks mostly to the expansion of Medicaid:

Oregon does have one big success to brag about. The state has enrolled 70,000 people in Medicaid, reducing the ranks of the uninsured by more than 10 percent.

And another 18,000 have submitted paper applications for private insurance:

The state has received about 18,000 paper applications, at 19 pages each, and is scrambling to manually file and clear them.

Yes, Oregon's website is a humiliating disaster. But it's only part of the story. But hey, why present an accurate picture?

Here's what Campion wrote about Oregon:

And Campion's right.

If you ignore the 88,000 who've signed up, according to the story Campion posted but did not read. Apparently they don't count, somehow.
It says right in the subtitle of the article that "Once considered a leader, Oregon's insurance exchange still hasn't enrolled anyone"

THEY are stating that. Not me.

Lots of folks seem awfully surprised by the recent unpleasant turn of events in the implementation of Obamacare.

But some folks saw this Goat Rope coming from a long ways off, . . . and a long time ago:
