What happened to this bulletin board?

PJ, Perhaps you should share with the crowd where they can go to discuss politics on a more thoughtful level. They may leave here and go there (one can at least hope).
Vegas free-for-all....nuff said, have fun with it, I do.

Then how do you explain why VegasMessageBoard.Com get's like 500 posts a day and has 25,000 members? At one time VMB and LVA forums were about the same level of activity.

Sionow (Jon, JMan) was nice enough to post 47 or so blogs here, with photos, during his most recent Vegas adventure on the Free-for-All site.

Some others who post their Trip Reports on the FFA. So you can still find some of the things you are looking for.

Some have abandoned the Forums altogether because of the technical difficulties, waiting for pages to load, etc.

Absolutely do start a thread, post a question, share a story to get us started.

All their Vegas content is free where as here most of it is behind a paid membership.

So Vegas Message Forums are not 'largely obsolete'? VMB is also closely moderated. Maybe that makes a difference.

This board was closely moderated for a long time. political threads were deleted and impolite posters were banned. And the board was dead then too.....more so than now even.

Honestly, if you want a review of a restaurant or show are you going to go to Yelp or a message board? yelp will give you 100 reviews from people who have all had the experience within the last 30 days. I still like the message boards...i belong to 3 of them....but they've been one-upped in their usefulness when it comes to getting feedback on specific places.

If your theory is true, then why isn't VMB dead? It's more popular than ever. When I first started posting in the FFA, 90% of the posts were Vegas related and it was like a really cool little vegas related early social network. Remember Red Hot Queen, Let It Ride, Luv 3 Card, Colt Pacer, Fun Girl, Ramper, Riblet...and many others? It was fun. I kind of miss that LVA.

Some of the people you named were banned for bad behavior as I recall...some of them tried to make their own site which ultimately got did not work out because of a lack of posting...and all of those people engaged in many of the off-topic threads amidst the same complaints that started this one. LVA today is no different from the one 10 years ago except for the fact that there are fewer posters. The Vegas threads, non-Vegas threads, name calling, and complaints have largely been the same since I started posting here back in 2007....there's just fewer people engaging in them.

If you want to see Free-for-All posting at its lowest level go back and dig up some of the bickering between Luv 3 Card and WBeem.

You are absolutely wrong about the 10 year thing. When I started in 2005, there was virtually no name calling or complaints and there was absolutely no political threads. There was an almost nightly 'chat thread'. There were some really funny people. I'm talking Party Bus days.

It did go downhill. There were factions and splits and eventual wars and that was even before the politics entered. But for a while there...at least a year maybe two, it was a great place with a lot of fun people who mostly talked about Vegas. Sorry you missed that. That's what I miss now....and I don't think it's coming back. I kind of blame Anthony for letting the place get out of control. You can see what VMB became. This is the site that could have been.

And yes. I have participated in the political threads many times. It's hard for me to resist sometimes. You know how that goes. I'd still vote to ban them if there was an election.
