What happened to this bulletin board?

I miss Grapelime...
LVA exodus history (to the best of my recollection)

- Luv 3 Card and a few friends were banned. The rest of her friends left in protest because they believed (correctly, IMO) their antagonizes were more to blame. This is a case where the staff moderated the board and many of the community members left because of a perceived unfair verdict
- A few people on the opposite side of Luv-3-Card were also banned..and those people and their friends (Wbeen, Let-It_Ride, Hustler, and many others) voluntarily left this site and went to VegasRex.com. VegasRex then moved away from Vegas and his site became a shell of its former self as far as posting.
- A few years later a group of posters became frustrated with Anthony for various reasons...website problems, coupon book complaints, Anthony's response to complaints...take your pick. They started a new site which I will not name. Many of those people (and me..and I believe AlanLeroy) post there. SOme people have made that their permanent home...some still use both sites. Posting numbers on that site are about the same as here.
- Many people on the paid side simply decided the membership wasn't worth the money any more and left...and they don't post on the FFA. ...and some of the great posters died (RIP)

This place is also mobile unfriendly, unlike Vegas Message Board. Is anyone under the age of deceased going to sign on to a new travel site that isn't mobile?
I would second that motion!

I think that pretty well sums it up. There was a lot of animosity building up prior to your #1 above. The era I referred to was the LVA Golden Era...let's just call it the pre-Beem era.

Of course we had Nesalk (Still do) and the Leg Humpers...but also Mindbender, Buick, Sparkie Dog, NavyMom and many others...yet still nary a political post for at least a year. Many of us even watched the epic streaming video of Don Diego and Teechur's Nuptials. Ah...those were the days.

As a general rule message boards are on the decline and have been for some time. People that want to converse nowadays tend to use social media Facebook, Twitter, Reddit(I mod a large sub there) and then there are the large mega sites (mentioned by PJ) that offer a huge volume of reviews such as Yelp, Google Reviews, Trip Advisor and so on.

There are always exceptions to the general rule such as the board you mentioned. However, I can tell you not very many companies are interested in selling message board software anymore. 10 years ago that wasn't the case.

I have been here at LVA in one identity or another since 2003 there has always been pissing matches and political threads. I am sure a lot of folks recall Mindbender, Buick Regal and Wbeen. In fact I think the first thread I posted in here ended up being a pissing match between Wbeen and myself. He thought I was one of Buick Regal's characters and went on the attack. The thread resulted in Wbeen being banned.

So Vegas Message Forums are not 'largely obsolete'? VMB is also closely moderated. Maybe that makes a difference.

Then how do you explain why VegasMessageBoard.Com get's like 500 posts a day and has 25,000 members? At one time VMB and LVA forums were about the same level of activity.

I'm talking about the Pre-Beem 'Golden Era' of the LVA. There was a time when there was virtually no animosity, a lot of Vegas Talk and no Politics in the FFA. It lasted at least a year. It was the time before the Party Bus. Remember the Party Bus? I imagine NavyMom, Kevzilla, Snidely (Frankie Rizzo III) and Julie G. do.
How many years ago was that though? Most things on the Internet don't last. Two years is an eternity in Internet time . The fact that this site has been around for so long and has bucked the odds says something too. Of all the message boards I posted on in 2003 and prior to that year there are only 2 others that I can think of that still exist and they are very different than they were back in 2003.

You're right about all that. I was just waxing nostalgic.

It was Buick Riviera, not Regal. Don't forget Darla and the pumpkin paint thread. John from Ohio, and some of the other crazies. ColtPacer, FunGirl, ...
